Off to Wales to wander? Pitch up at superbly scenic Tyn Yr Onnen Farm, on the edge of Snowdonia National Park between the Moel Eilio and the Elephant Mountains (Mynydd Mawr), for a hiking holiday you won't forget. Keen-footed wayfarers of all abilities can wander hundreds of acres of heathland direct from the farm including a route right up to Snowdon's peak – although if that thought makes you pale, the Snowdon Mountain Railway with its more relaxed summit accessing is only a few miles away. Guests also travel to Tyn Yr Onnen Farm and this part of north Wales for the coastline and beaches of the Llŷn Peninsula and the Isle of Anglesey within easy driving distance, and to get down with Wales's mighty heritage at the likes of the National Slate Centre and the castles of Harlech, Caernarfon, Bangor, Beaumaris, all nearby. On site, llamas, donkeys, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys and newborn lambs in spring inhabit the farm for the kids to coo at: Tyn Yr Onnen is a working 180-acre sheep farm managed by the Griffiths family for over 300 years. Pitches are sheltered, with loads of room for barbecues, and campfires are allowed in one of the camping fields. The children can entertain themselves at the play area with swings, roundabouts and sandpit (parental supervision required at all times, of course), while the grownups should be chuffed at the clean and modern amenities in the refurbished toilet and shower block, with free hot showers, baby changing, disabled facilities and a utility room with washing-up area, campers' fridge and freezer, washing machines and tumble drier. There are also 22-amp electric vehicle charging points. The local village, Waunfawr, is within walking distance and has a village shop open daily, as well as a pub serving the type of good food you want after a hike. There is also a local bus service which runs between Caernarfon and Beddgelert. Please check online for time tables and fares.

喜欢: Good Washing facilities, the family washroom was a big bonus. Good playpark for the kids and lots of animals on site for our kids to look at. Tent pitch was nice and large grounds well maintained, we had heavy rain during out stay and the grass held up well and didnt turn muddy.

不喜欢: couldn't get on the Wifi on our pitch (didn't expect to anyways so not a big deal for me)

不喜欢: WiFi is really bad, for rainy days you need your own network for sure and 4G is not generous due to mountains.

Something that was really bad and needs improving is laundry facilities, I understand you have to pay to do it no problem but equipment is very outdated, £5 for a 40 min wash and whopping £8 for dryer with still wet clothes! Just don’t bother drive down to shell garage and use proper facilities.

来自经理: Thanks for your feedback. Re the laundry, the prices have not changed for 4 years. We use the machines almost everyday for our laundry from our accommodation units, and find them efficient. Like all driers it depends what you put in them so an entire load of washing from the machine will take a long time to dry, but if its done in part then it will dry quickly.
As for the WiFi once people start to stream or use on line gaming then yes the service deteriorates. We do use Starlink since fibre is still not an option for us.

喜欢: Tyn-yr-Onnen offers a picturesque setting at the foot of Moel Eilio, providing stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere. The campsite is exceptionally family-friendly, featuring a well-maintained play area with swings, a sandpit, and ample space for children to explore safely. The presence of farm animals like donkeys, llamas, and chickens adds a delightful touch, allowing kids to engage with nature firsthand. Facilities are clean and modern, including free hot showers, baby changing areas, and a utility room equipped with fridges and washing machines. The on-site shop offers essential items, and the allowance of campfires enhances the authentic camping experience. Additionally, the campsite's proximity to Snowdonia National Park makes it an ideal base for exploring the region.​

不喜欢: While the overall experience was positive, a few aspects could be improved. The access road to the campsite is narrow with limited passing spots, which can be challenging for larger vehicles. Some pitches have stony ground, making tent setup a bit difficult. Additionally, the play area, while enjoyable, could benefit from more diverse equipment to cater to a wider age range. The on-site shop has limited hours, which may be inconvenient for late arrivals or those needing supplies outside of peak times.​

喜欢: Stayed here previously so know we like the site. Unfortunately we had booked the wrong weekend and turned up without an actual reservation, the staff helped us out immensely and found us somewhere to stay on site thus preventing us ruining our entire weekend

The surrounding area has heaps to see and do alongside the rambles, coastlines and castles: if you get a bit stuck for choice, ask the family for their top picks. Within a short drive are Surf Snowdonia in Conway, Zip World in Bethesda (home to Velocity, the fastest zipline in the world and the longest in Europe), the treetop nets of Bounce Below, Zip World Caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog and GreenWood Forest Park a family adventure park in Y Felinheli. Rather conveniently, one of Wales's top attractions is less than five miles from Tyn Yr Onnen Farm, the National Slate Museum in Llanberis, where kids can get stuck into the story of the country's mining heritage amid talks and demos, quarrymen's houses and interactive play activities. Llanberis village is where many set out to climb Snowdon as the Llanberis Path begins here, winding up the least taxing route (we'll point out again that the Snowdon Mountain Railway goes to the top too). The village is also a popular place for adventurous activities like kayaking, coasteering, scuba diving, mountain biking, pony trekking and high ropes courses. Another popular pull of these parts is the Dinorwig Power Station or Electric Mountain: take an underground tour, set the kids free to play in the den, or test your wits in the Genius Corner puzzle room.
