For a quiet adults-only North Yorkshire stay far removed from the hurly burly of everyday life, Millfields Caravan and Camping is a tiny site tucked away in Brompton on Swale, a historic village mentioned in the Domesday Book. Peaceful it certainly is, yet there’s masses to do and see hereabouts. The lively market town of Richmond is 10 minutes’ drive away, with its photogenic Georgian architecture, museums, a castle and lots of entertainment options from cosy inns to chic restaurants. It’s also gateway to adventures in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and any keen racing fans among you have the choice of nine major racecourses: York is an hour’s drive, Wetherby 40 minutes, and Catterick a doddle to get to, being a mere five minutes away. And back on site, the manicured pitches look out over lush countryside (great for walking any dogs you've brought along), with simple facilities including showers and washing-up areas. If you choose to conjure up alfresco feasts on the barbecue, pick up essentials in the handy local shop, or you can always head to the village pub for a pint and a pie (both 10 minutes’ walk).

喜欢 The whole experience of the site......when entering the site the board with your name on telling you your pitch number.......site very clean and well kept. Showers and toilet block again clean and tidy

Loved the peace and quiet, just what you need for a little weekend escape.

The Crown pub in Brompton on Swale.....excellent and friendly, also bus service to Richmond is very handy.

Thank you for a awesome weekend.

喜欢 Very clean and well looked after camp site. Pitches are big enough, there is room for a big tent, a car and still plenty room left. 2 toilet blocks and the showers are clean, hot water and water pressure is great.
Enjoyed our stay a lot.

喜欢 Good location. Easy to get to.

不喜欢 The loos and facilities were really dirty. Even the washing up area left a lot to be desired, including the dead bird outside of it.
The owner walked around the site 3 times whilst we were there - I didn’t once see him or anyone check any of the facilities.

喜欢 Peaceful site on a farm with only a handful of pitches. About half an hour walk to bamburgh. The facilities are just one toilet and one shower in the porch of the farm.

喜欢 Level site and easy to find allocated pitch from the arrivals board. Hot showers close to the pitch.

不喜欢 Lots of dogs and pitches very close together.

Stroll directly from your pitch to the spectacular hilltop ruins of 12th-century Easby Abbey (40 minutes’ walk), or have a ramble along the River Swale to Richmond Castle and the pebble beach at Richmond Falls (both roughly an hour). And of course, there are hikes and cycle rides for all levels of ability in the Yorkshire Dales National Park (15 minutes’ drive). Head to Foxglove Covert Local Nature Reserve (20 minutes) for the chance to spy birds of prey and kingfishers in the moorland, meadow and wetland habitats, or if stately houses are on your agenda, combine exploring formal gardens and a lakeside park at Jacobean-era Kiplin Hall (10 minutes) with a tour of the mansion’s richly decorated rooms. The likelihood is you’ll adore fussing over the camels, llamas and ostriches at Mainsgill Farm Shop (15 minutes), where you can also tuck into a tasty cream tea. Should the weather turn against you, book tickets for blockbuster films at The Station or tour Richmond’s restored Georgian Theatre Royal (both 10 minutes), still with its original stage and seating.
