What customers say
This community-run campground gets high marks for its excellent, modern facilities and friendly, helpful staff. The pretty riverside setting allows for pleasant walks into Wick town. While sites are generally spacious and well-kept, some visitors noted temporary facilities needed updating, though new ones are planned. It's a great base for exploring the NC500 and nearby areas.

From the manager: Thank you for the review and feedback.
We are sorry you had an issue with cleanliness as we take pride in ensuring the toilets are spotlessly clean. Our cleaner cleans the toilets daily from 11am to 2pm, and as can be seen from many other reviews on Pitchup and Google, our guests comment on how clean everything is. We notice that you checked in after 5pm, so this was several hours after the toilet block was cleaned, and whilst we find that most guests tidy up after themselves, it is possible that other guests have not done so and this is what you have found. Our wardens are supposed to check the toilet block around 5pm and again before they close up for the evening, but if they are very busy with check ins or serving in the shop this is not always possible, but is something we will remind all staff about.
Regarding mantenance in the toilet block, we are having some issues with the toilet seats coming loose and they are having to be repaired daily, but we have ordered some different fixings which will hopefully do the trick.
Great stay wished I booked moe nights there.

Nice site, clean, excellent staff
Powered gravel travel trailer campsite (XL)
Liked The camp amenities are very good, site clean and lots of room for each camper.
Disliked Not exactly a dislike, but I would highly recommend that a height sign be placed on the bridge at entrance. Because there isn't one, some people may just think it's safe to go under...I almost did, then checked.

Regarding the height sign, we do have an overhead entrance barrier with a height restriction sign, but over the past few weeks it has been hit several times and damaged, so a replacement has been ordered. There is also a warning sign before the barrier, huge warning signs either side of the barrier for motorhomes over 2.89m in height to stop, but still people drive into it. Unfortunately we are not allowed to fit height warnings to the actual bridge as it is the property of Network Rail.
For vehicles over 2.89m we have an alternative entrance via Station Road. There is also a huge sign to the right of the entrance barrier explaining this with a simple map on it to direct you to the anternative entrance.
