Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked: Great site with large spaces which was great for the kids to play on. It had a lovely feel and one of my favourite sites that I have stayed on.!Excellently maintained and the toilets were more than adequate. The area around it is one of my favourite in the country, excellent pubs and off the tourist trap beaches. The view just of the camping site has to be one of the best in the country.
Disliked: Not disliked and i understand the need to separate out the field site but the bushes by toilets do obscure the aforementioned incredible view

From the manager: Aww thank you. I agree about the bushes. The north yorkshire moors national parks told me the only way thay would pass planning permission was if I left them to hide the site 😂🤣 crazy I know.
Very quiet basic site.

Primitive grass campervan campsite
Liked: Lovely view of the coast and Scarborough Castle. Very quiet site. Friendly owner. Not expensive and great for solo travellers as you pay per person. Picnic benches are located every few pitches which was really useful. We used these instead of eating in the camper van. There are 2 sinks for washing dishes. Chemical toilet disposal. An outdoor electric point and an outdoor phone charger. Useful if you have no power as there is no electric hook up. We really enjoyed our stay and would return.
Disliked: Showers and toilets are basic, however they were clean. One large communal shower one smaller shower in the ladies toilets. There are 2 pubs relatively close by, however I doubt it’s a 10 minute walk probably nearer 20. It would have been too far for me to walk (I have arthritic knees) and there is a bit of an incline getting up to the site and when we stayed it was wet and muddy. However if you’re young and fit it may be no issue. There are no facilities for children, play areas etc.

From the manager: Sorry there is no children's play area. I was going to put one in last year but when I asked my insurance company about it it was going to so expensive to insure it was going to cost more than the site makes per year 😏

Liked: Lovely quiet site with views of the sea and Scarborough. Plenty of room on the pitches for our campervan and a separate shelter. James the owner interesting to talk to about the site and surroundings. Nice walk down to the pub at Hayburn Wyke in the evening for a drink or a meal. Lovely walks on the cinder track and the Cleveland Way.
