What customers say
Awesome campsite! Staff are legends, facilities top-notch, and the location's stunning. Clean loos, spacious sites, great for families. Chill vibe, easy to Cheddar. Fire pits and food vendors a hit. Can get busy, but totally worth it – heaps are keen to go back!

Liked Very helpful and friendly welcome and orientation by a young man. Nice spacious pitch, with a view of the cheddar gorge hills in the distance. Great access to showers and loos and phone charging etc. my son enjoyed a wonderful breakfast from cafe including a smoothie which set him up for the day!

Excellent all rounder!
Unpowered grass site
Liked Thoroughly enjoyed all of it. The location, the cleanliness, friendly staff, the food and live music.
Have been twice before, and will come again. Particularly liked the field with the 11pm cut off. This is because families with older children tended to pitch there making it better for me and my 12 year old daughter, and dog.

Liked Layout of the camping sites , cleanliness of showers etc
Disliked Speed of the staff on the quad bike travelling around the site with no respect for children or dog walker’s, and the tractor driver that drove over a banked hedge right next to our campsite

Liked Has everything you need on site, shop, cafe, things for the kids, a short walk into cheddar
Disliked Price, paid £75 for one night, I had no choice as there were no other options available in proximity, plus to then find I was limited on electric without extra charge seemed even more excessive. Most expensive site I’ve ever stayed at

From the manager: Hi David,
Thanks for your feedback — we’re really pleased you enjoyed the facilities, the café, the shop, and the short walk into Cheddar. We work hard to make sure there’s “everything you need on site,” and that’s because we’re constantly reinvesting — not just in maintaining what’s here, but in adding new touches like live music, breakfast and evening street food, and activities for all ages.
Our prices haven’t changed for three years, and we charge per person rather than per pitch, as we believe that’s fairer since each guest uses the facilities. In your case, one of your children is 16, so they’re charged the adult rate, which is £12 more than the child rate for the stay.
Regarding electricity, the price includes enough for most guests’ needs, and extra can be purchased for those with higher usage — this way we can keep our prices fair for everyone, without building unlimited electricity into the base cost for all.
We hope that next time you visit, you’ll be able to enjoy more of the little extras we offer, and perhaps catch some live music or street food too!
Warm regards,
Jules

Liked Stayed for four days in the quiet field, with a two man tent, (I'm not big I just like space). Arrived on a Thursday. Great place, the staff were very professional and nice. Took a short buggy ride with one of them. Liked the facilities a lot, nice and clean, showers were great, nice little cafe type place, plus a little shop. It's a massive site.
And the cafe food is great, I'm from London and the cafes here give you thise Frankenstein sausages, or rather the cheapo versions. This campsite gives you the real stuff! (The man stuff). They also give you one of those wireless buzzers to alert you that your food is ready. I was taken aback by that. I thought that's rather fancy for a campsite! I thought wheres the Rolls!
Didn't see any rabbit poo anywhere at the campsite. I did see a lot on my walk up and around the gorge though. So Cheddar has a lot of rabbits. Word to the wise, make sure you got the right shoes don't want to be slipping on that stuff!
The campsite is fields, its pretty flat. So for tents its good. Did have a little issue getting a steak or two in to the ground, so bring a heavy blunt thing, like a stone and whack the thing in.
In the evening the staff came
around in the van with the fire stuff 🔥. If you want a nice little fire, they will give you everything you need. Just bring the marshmallows. But don't bring your fire stuff! This is to do with laws. I didn't get one because I was lazy, and I thought I might burn down my tent. I've only received it it the last four weeks from Canada, after waiting a year. (I'm a proper camper 😆)
One of the reasons I chose to camp here was because it was very close to Cheddar village. (I'm lazy) (Gotta get my mature cave cheese) within walking distance. And there's a Tescos 10-15min walk away (just follow the path from the campsite.) Heaven for me.
(No, I didn't get my cheddar cheese from Tescos! I got it from Wokey Hole! Proper cheese)
I have no problems recommending this campsite for solo, groups and family campers.
Disliked Recycling was a little confusing for me, and they love their recycling! They give you a bucket and some clear bags. I spent half an hour figuring out what piece of rubbish goes in to what bag. Just so you know, I'm usually confused anyway, my usual state of affairs. 😉 (sometimes I'm so confused I forget the tent, which is kind of a big deal for when you go camping 🏕)
WiFi, they have it at reception area but not in the fields. However this isn't a problem because of 4G. So bring a hotspot. You should get a good signal, I did.

Liked The facilities are outstanding, very clean and lots available.
The food truck in the morning was lovely great food and even my dog was given a treat.
Disliked The limited electricity was a pain. I forgot to switch off my hot water heater which soon ate the £3 allowance.

Liked We stayed at Petruth Paddock for four days and three nights. We had a lovely pitch with electric hookup. We were met and showed around by the lovely Bex. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were cleaned regularly and they have lovely hot showers. We preferred to cook our own food, but it was nice to know we had the flexibility to buy on-site at the food van. All the campers were very friendly too and respectful. All around we had an amazing stay and would definitely go back. Thank you Petruth Paddocks!

Liked The closeness to Cheddar (walking distance), the friendliness of staff, plenty of clean toilets and showers
Disliked The electric charges on top of a dearer site fee. All we use electric for is fridge and charging phones, the £3 that was included in the booking ran out overnight on our first night we didn't get on the site till 2pm so didn't even last 24 hours. We have never stayed at a site that uses this method before. Topped up a further £10 and used £5 of this and then forgot to get the remainder back so the site clicked this, im sure we won't be the only ones that forget so it's a nice little earner for the owners
