  • Family-run site in Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Sea views; a 15-minute drive to the edge of Exmoor National Park
  • Swimming pool, bar-restaurant, tennis and boules on site
Views, glorious views… the area surrounding award-winning St Audries Bay Holiday Club near Minehead is the setting for splendid Somerset sights. The park is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the foot of the Quantock Hills, it's a short drive from beaches on the Somerset coast and has views across the Bristol Channel to Wales: bring your camera. That setting is a most handy one for getting out and about too: hikers can head up into the Quantock Hills or expand their horizons to the nearby Exmoor National Park. Both Bridgwater and Taunton are on the M5 15 miles away, and you can hit the sands of Minehead with a drive of about 25 minutes. St Audries Bay has been family-owned and run since 1933 and has picked up a goodly handful of awards along the way, so it’s safe to assume they know what to lay on for guests of all ages whatever the weather: among the options on offer are tennis, boules, fishing, an adventure playground and a swimming pool. On site, there is also the Sundowner Bar and Restaurant, a family- and dog-friendly place that has stunning sunsets and views across the Bristol Channel.

Powered concrete and grass caravan site

Liked: Very clean, heated toilets and shower rooms. Not many pitches so we where spaced out well from other campers. Swimming pool if wished to use however we didn't so can't really comment on this. Out the way of towns which was nice and peaceful

Disliked: Food very expensive for what you get £15 for a microwave curry. Footpath down to the beach closed so we didn't get to see the waterfall before the sea came in. No entertainment apart from certain nights in the week. Very steep to get down too and not many people liked to give way when in a smaller vehicle which made it hard for us to reverse on a hill

Liked: Great site, friendly staff, great club and very nice food. Views were great overlooking the bay and if you look carefully you will see the waterfall on beach…..free heated swimming pool, snooker room, ball room currently being refurbished, basic shop on site,
Will definately return 🌟🌟

Disliked: Sadly there is a very long winding narrow driveway to the site which is all downhill…. No problem until you want to go for a walk because it would be a very long walk back up the hill….. and there is no beach access from site so you have to drive aprox about 1 1/2 miles to home farm site and use their access path to the beach and it will cost you £4 to park the car for day. However there are plans in place to build new access to beach early next year 👍

Liked: Absolutely lovely site. Great size pitches, dog field area, clean toilets and amazing facilities. We didn't go into the games room but it looked brilliant. The pool booking was easy, the bar and restaurant were brilliant and really dog friendly. The site itself seemed like a little community, which we felt accepted into. The staff were all really nice, helpful and really knowledgeable. Sarah however really stood out as very good at her job and couldn't do enough for you.

Liked: The whole campsite and friendly staff.

Disliked: The beach access was shut off which is not good as it’s a massive reason for staying there, it’s a long way to walk to get to the next one it needs repairing as soon as possible.

Liked: Level pitches
Good children’s play area
Clean swimming pool and changing rooms
Well maintained shower/toilet block
Brilliant views

Disliked: Disappointed you can’t access the beach area without driving out to an alternative site (and paying for parking) - would have appreciated this being more obvious when booking. (Map on arrival still indicates path to beach but has been closed for over 12 months!)
Would have been great if you could access more in the way of hot/cold drinks even in off season.

Local attractions

Pick up a safari tour at Dulverton or Dunster to see Exmoor’s wildlife in sit-down style, or take to your feet or wheels to explore the park’s walking and biking routes. Going there by night? Exmoor National Park is the first designated International Dark Sky Reserve in Europe: watch the stars at Haddon Hill or Wimbleball Lake, the first designated Dark Skies Discovery Site on Exmoor. The country park at Wimbleball is worth hanging around for a day or two too: it’s managed by the South West Lakes Trust and has an activity centre, trout fishery, bike route and nine-mile lake walk. Minehead, nine miles away from St Audries Bay, has a couple of record breakers: it’s the starting point of Britain’s longest walking trail, the South West Coast Path, and it has the country’s longest standard-gauge heritage railway, West Somerset Railway, starting at its station and running just over 20 miles to Bishops Lydeard. Weston-super-Mare is also within easy driving distance and has miles of clean beaches, a refurbished pier, a SeaQuarium, more donkeys and Britain’s only helicopter museum: give it a whirl. There are several other Somerset essentials to see within driving distance: cider farms at Taunton and Washford, two vineyards at Bridgwater, the Blackdown Hills to hike after the Quantocks, and famous Glastonbury and its abbey about 40 minutes’ drive away.
