  • Well-maintained, landscaped adults-only park near Polstead in Suffolk
  • A 20-minute drive to Lavenham, and 25 minutes to Ipswich Waterfront
  • Essentials shop on site; food pub five minutes’ walk away
Its rural location on the edge of a Suffolk conservation area ensures visitors to Polstead Country Park have plenty to do during their stay. The pretty village of Polstead is five minutes’ drive away, and walkers have access to a network of footpaths from there, taking in ancient woodland scattered with bluebells in spring, while overnighting cyclists can pick on the South Suffolk Cycle Route with a 10-minute ride from the park. If you've brought the car, your options widen even further – animal parks, stately homes and beaches are all within half an hour’s drive. Landscaped with flowers, neat hedges and shady mature trees, the pitches at this adults-only site are generously sized and immaculately maintained. Spotless modern facilities include shower facilities with underfloor heating and a dedicated accessible bathroom, while washing-up sinks and a laundry area make it easy to keep everyone and everything looking shipshape. The friendly staff at reception can let you have all sorts of information on the local area and places to visit, and there’s also a small site shop stocked with essentials. If you fancy a break from cooking, there’s a foodie pub within five minutes’ walk and other options in Polstead village.

Top-notch adult-only spot! Immaculately clean showers (with tunes!), spacious, private pitches with hedges. Friendly staff, peaceful vibe, great pub & walking nearby. Minor road noise, but overall a cracker. Many keen to come back.

Liked Nice quiet and clean site. Facilities were clean, showers spacious and music playing.
Pitches were of varying sizes with hedges round them for added privacy. The pub the Brewers Arms, 5 minutes walk away, is an added bonus with good food which is reasonably priced. Lots of footpaths nearby for dog walks. Really enjoyed our stay.

Disliked The acorns falling on the carvan kept making me jump, avoid pitch 23 in the autumn 🍂 😊

Liked Small, well laid out and well maintained site. Pitches divided by hedges for privacy. Good clean toilet/shower block. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Excellent hand drawn map to take you on a walk through the woods to the village. Community shop in the village was very friendly and inexpensive.
Bus stop 5 minutes walk away next to the pub, takes you to Hadleigh for £1.50.

Liked Pitch size and facilities really good

Disliked Too close to a main road, unfortunately we live in a quiet village and not used to being next to a busy A road, my fault should have researched the site on Google earth.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much Gary for taking time to leave a review. The Long Field where you were pitched is closer to the A1071. Some guests notice the road noise while others don't mind it at all. The Main Field and the paddock are the quieter areas, if they hadn't been full we could have pitched you there instead.

Liked Nice quiet site. Adult only. Pitch sizes good and very private. Showers and toilets were lovely and clean with plenty of hot water. Small washing up area and washing machine and tumble dryer. Reception had a small shop area with coal and lighters, ice cream and every day essentials. No cold stuff available like bacon, eggs etc. So bring your own. 5 minute walk to the pub which did and excellent selection of food. Had a delicious curry. Very good. Bus stop 5 mins walk away taking you into Sudbury if you want a little trip out. Would visit the site again. Staff very pleasant. Enjoyed my stay.

Disliked We was a couple and only one of us was able to access the site wifi. Not sure if it is one token only per campervan etc. We couldn't attach wifi to our TV either.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much Tracy for taking time to leave a review and some great feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Not sure why you couldn't both access the Wifi. Our WiFi doesn't cover the Long Field or the Paddock Field but if you were on the Main Field it should have been fine.

Local attractions

Pretty Suffolk villages to explore include Kersey (five minutes’ drive) with its half-timbered houses and thatched cottages, while Lavenham (20 minutes) has a stunning guildhall and fine 14th-century church. For a bit of a date night, Ipswich (25 minutes) has lots of bars and restaurants along its lively waterfront, as well as a theatre and cinema. There are pretty country yomps along the River Stour to Flatford Mill (25 minutes) and Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (20 minutes) in Constable Country. You can see another artist’s house on the walking trail from National Trust-owned Melford Hall (20 minutes) to Sudbury (15 minutes), which takes in three old water mills and Thomas Gainsborough’s house en route. Looking for animal encounters on your rural break? Feed lambs (in season), groom horses and cuddle up to friendly donkeys at Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm, or get up close to the reptiles, creepy crawlies and butterflies at Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park (both half an hour). Or how about touring a couple of local vineyards? Giffords Hall (half an hour) and Burnt House (45 minutes) are both open for tours and tastings – it’s best to book in advance.
