  • Peaceful family-friendly site on the Norfolk coast
  • A 15-minute walk from the nearest beach; a 15-minute drive from Cromer
  • Walking distance from pubs and food shops
A big ‘yes please’ to a break by the sea? Then root down at Green Gables Camping Ground. This peaceful site in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has views over the surrounding countryside. A 15-minute walk away from the nearest beach and 15 minutes' drive away from Cromer, you’ll also be well situated for activities that revolve around the sand and sea. Plus, with four acres of grasslands (and rather splendid rural views), there’s plenty of space for everyone to unwind. It’s likely you’re already heading to the coast with the idea of whiling your day away on the sand and pottering (or speeding your way) around the coastal footpaths. If so, this site is a 15-minute walk away from the sheltered Trimingham beach… perhaps take a surfboard for the waves or set your sights on the good fishing spots. Very handily, the beach joins up with the coastal path, and there’s a small food shop 20 minutes’ walk away along this route, well-positioned for filling your pockets with some energy-boosting snacks before you set off. Catch a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs on the way to Mundesley beach too (40 minutes’ walk in the same direction). If you’re feeling a little sandy after your adventures, there’s an amenities block on site that has showers and toilets. Other on-site facilities include a washing-up area for you to take care of your dirty dishes or grab some drinking water.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Basic facilities, but adequate and kept clean . Pleasant field not crowded. Easy access to coastal path and 20 minutes stroll to Trimingham beach. Space to walk the Labrador adjacent. Owners were welcoming . Will definitely be back.

Disliked One shower too cramped and 1( of 3) toilet out of action.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Lovely Campsite in nature & fresh sea air. Great Location in a quiet area & a short walk to the beach. Stunning views from the Campsite as it’s high up. The owner was a really nice guy, very welcoming & helpful. Basic facilities but very reasonably priced overall. Cheap & good firewood for sale.

Disliked Facilities were basic but fine & I can’t complain for the price & location.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Close to the beach.

Disliked Toilets and showers. Toilets were inadequate and kept blocking. Only three available and on some occasions only one usable. I did notice that the issues were addressed quickly, however they continued to get blocked again.

Only two showers. Very very basic. Glad I bought along my flip-flops

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Relaxing and natural. Allowed fire pits. Running water and toilets. Not for people who like kellingheath and clipsbey but that suits me as I only need somewhere to pitch my tent. Felt safe and nice people on site this weekend. Everyone respectful of being quiet at night.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Proximity to Trimington beach

Disliked Entrance is like a scrapyard. First thing I did when we arrived (a 4 hour trip) was burst into tears and check availability on other sites (there was none).
Toilets - there are only 3, one was permanently out of order and another didnt flush.
Washing up area is disgusting, concrete "sink" within inadequate drainage and no hot water, full of filth.
Showers are down a very long dirt track and are filthy. However its the only hot water on site.
NEVER AGAIN.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Welcoming, friendly and peaceful. Can feel the stress of life slide off your shoulders. Nothing fancy which was a bonus, making you feel even closer to nature and your ancestry.

Disliked Showers could do with some attention. Although getting close to nature without any frills is good for the soul. Having a few bugs under your feet in the shower was a little too far.

Liked Peaceful setting, helpful owner and great location. Facilities are basic yet functional but bearing in mind how much you are paying you can’t expect luxury.

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

Beach days on the brain? No worries – sandy shores are on the horizon, whether it’s Mundesley beach's (five minutes’ drive) safe swimming waters, beach huts and watersports or Cromer’s beach and traditional pier (15 minutes), a popular crabbing spot for novices and pros, by the way. Sea Palling Beach (35 minutes) is another watersports haven with plenty of swims and sandy dunes in store. It's likely you’ve already met the site’s alpacas, but if it’s monkeys, pumas and peccaries you’d like to see next, Amazona Zoo (15 minutes) has a cluster of South American animals. You’re sure to spot some creepy crawlies and feathered animals around the woodland and parkland walks, the lake and walled garden at Felbrigg Hall, Gardens and Estate (15 minutes) too. If you’ve kids to keep occupied, they might enjoy clambering across the treehouse adventure park at BeWILDerwood Norfolk (half an hour) or gliding across the boating lake at North Lodge Park (10 minutes). Heard of Henry Blogg, a famous lifeboat crew member who performed some fearsome rescues? The RNLI Henry Blogg Museum (15 minutes) remembers his life and some of his craziest rescues.
