Little Lynton Acres

Large grass pitches
Good grass pitches next to the small woodland play area.
Plenty of space around the field
Lots of space to spread out

  • Peaceful site in the Kent Downs, 20 minutes' drive from Canterbury
  • Within a half-hour drive of Dover, Folkestone and Ashford
  • A mile from country pubs; woodland walks next to the site
Folk looking for a place to flop before or after a foray to France may well find Little Lynton Acres a most handy location – it’s less than half an hour’s drive from the ferries at Dover and Folkestone, and 20 minutes or so from Ashford’s international train station linking passengers up with European cities like Paris, Brussels, Marseille, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. It’s recommended that you don’t try to move on too quickly from this spacious, peaceful site in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, however, for there’s plenty to keep you busy nearby, including country walks, trips to the coast and days out in Canterbury (20 minutes’ drive away). Those seeking a spot to stroll can, in fact, wander straight out into the woodland just next to the site, and there’s also plenty of space around the place for kids and dogs that need a place to run about in the open air. This site is also a mile from the villages of Stowting and Stelling (and, perhaps more importantly, their pubs). Facilities at this simple park include toilets, showers, drinking water and a chemical disposal point.

What customers say

This is a small, friendly campsite in a peaceful rural location, ideal for stopovers or short breaks. Visitors praise the clean, well-maintained basic facilities, the welcoming and helpful owners, and the lovely woodland area for children. It's conveniently located for Eurotunnel and ferry crossings. Some mention the limited facilities (one shower, two toilets) but generally found it perfectly adequate, especially for the price. Access roads can be narrow.

Liked Excellent campsite with a most congenial owner. Tucked out of the way in the Kent countryside, it offers peace and tranquility, away from the madding crowd.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked The setting is lovely with lovely views, our girls aged 13 & 10 loved the wooded kids area, and we enjoyed a couple of walks, one being the fairy walk! You’re never too old!
The grass area in the centre is great for family games and you’re given plenty of space.
The owner is lovely, and very easy going.

Disliked The facilities are ok but could be upgraded, it’s a little off putting having communal toilets so close together with folding doors and just the 1 shower.
The Elsan point could do with some sort of enclosure so it isn’t as open, so that those waiting to shower aren’t on top of you, and it really needs some sort of flushing device so the next person isn’t faced with it. Maybe the drinking water could be relocated away from the Elsan point?

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Everything, we had an amazing time. We had taken our 3 grandchildren on their first camping trip, along with our daughter and son-in-law (he was not looking forward to camping) but is now excited for our next trip, I think this is due to having a great experience of a lovely site and calm nights around a relaxing camp fire. The kids where in their element, from the moment we arrived they were off exploring the wooded area, playing in the mud kitchen and running play games of football, rounders and any other game they could. We met some fantastic people, everyone was so friendly. All the kids played so well together many after dark running round with glow stick necklaces (thanks to a couple we had got chatting to). Kay and her husband who run the site are very friendly and helpful, the toilets and showers are kept clean along with the site and if you need anything tou can just ask. We was sad to go home.

Disliked Nothing, a nice small relaxing safe site.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked Nice friendly people who run the place. Can rent out a fire pit and buy wood which is great. Has toys and things kids can use though, we didn’t use them this time. Pretty easy to find but you are close to the road on one side of the field so while a quiet site, if you don’t like cars noises it’s something to have in mind. Was fine for us though :)

Disliked Our pitch was fine but the other tent pitches looked quite close together. They may have all been one group, we don’t know though. Some people may be ok with that. However for us that looked a bit too close. Not a massive dislike just a thing to think about :)

Local attractions

Craving the coast? Head to the long, pebble shores of Hythe (15 minutes' drive), an especially scenic place on a sunny day, for a bit of beach time. Kent is also a cracking spot for keen historians: visit the traditional city of Canterbury for its cathedral and Roman museum (20 minutes) or factor in a few hours for moseying around the maze and gardens at the spectacular 12th-century Leeds Castle (35 minutes). And if you're seeking yesteryear-themed tours focusing on a different era? Flit over to the Kent Battle of Britain Museum to roam among the remnants of more than 700 crashed aircraft from WWII. When travelling with tiddlers who don’t do so well during historical explores, try an animal attraction instead: critters of all sorts are scattered throughout the area, including at the Port Lympne Reserve (15 minutes), a breeding sanctuary housing rare and endangered creatures, and Howletts Wild Animal Park with its giant anteaters, African elephants and gorillas (20 minutes). Farm animals are to be seen at Druidstone Park (half an hour), which also has adventure playgrounds for the kids, while the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Light Railway (also half an hour) is a fab family attraction whisking riders through the local countryside on an old-school locomotive.
