Thorn Campsite is a secluded spot in Devon countryside, near Jurassic Coast beaches and seaside resorts – and here’s the thing – it comes with its very own golf course. Yes, golfers pack your clubs and come to enjoy a few rounds on a nine-hole rural course. The flat and neatly manicured camping field has electric hook-ups, loos, a washing-up area and showers, and it’s just a short stroll from the golf course. The clubhouse cleverly doubles as a snack bar with additional loos and showers for site guests, and there’s a wifi connection if you need to keep friends informed of your golfing successes. But it’s not just about the golfing. Families, couples and dogs are also welcome at Thorn, as there’s plenty hereabouts to keep everyone entertained. Take the kids rummaging for fossils along the Jurassic Coast (10 minutes’ drive), and if they have behaved really, really well, the best treat ever is feeding time at The Donkey Sanctuary (five minutes). You can choose from an abundance of lovely beaches along the coastline (Salcombe Regis and Seaton to name just two – both less than 15 minutes’ drive), and the South West Coast Path (10 minutes) reveals swathes of rugged headlands for long-distance hikers. Sidmouth supermarkets will keep you fed and watered, and if you want a night off from cooking, there are traditional pubs in Branscombe (10 minutes) and a whole host of restaurants in Budleigh Salterton (25 minutes).

喜欢: Clean pitch and great pitch size, lovely helpful bloke who runs it. We like back to basic camping so having clean hot showers and toilets to us is a new thing, price is great and great location. On a couple.of occasions no loo roll but we always take our anyway. Short drive away from many beaches.

不喜欢: The ehu could be temperamental but the guy did what he could to help.

喜欢: Sidmouth area was beautiful.
Couple who owned the site were very lovely and friendly.
Being out in nature is always a bonus 😊

不喜欢: Campsite was in the middle of a golf course (which you were aware of anyway) just didn’t realise what idiots actually played golf!! One golfer was totally unaware of any risk to anyone on the site!!
Campsite was very scruffy but it’s not supposed to be used as such. Toilets/showers weren’t cleaned enough I think and ran out of loo rolls a lot. Good job we brought our own.

plenty of trees to climb other children also around, did away with the amusement arcade years ago

喜欢: Very relaxed atmosphere and the owner was helpful and friendly

不喜欢: The facilities could do with a decent clean.
We were camped and parked on an active golf course which wasn't a problem but very quickly could have been, given we were about 5m from the 7th hole.

喜欢: Camping as a Family with younger and older children , friends also pitched up with us. Some good and bad points to make. Site was not well equipped. Showers and toilets were not kept up to good cleanliness standards. But useable. Two showers in each block . One in the women’s does not give out hot water.

Private function was also on site while we were staying and were very loud up to early hours of the morning, which I thought wasn’t really on considering we had not been warned about it and young children with us.

Golf on site was a very fun activity for both kids and adults. And reasonably priced. Owner seemed friendly enough. Lots of space for running / biking round.
