Families should hotfoot it right now to Lancashire’s Whitehough Outdoor Centre. Operated by Burnley FC in the Community, the centre is a 22-acre outdoor education facility in untamed Pendle countryside. Set in gorgeous Lancashire woodland and fields with spectacular views of fells and valleys, there’s lots of open space on the camping field, with ample room to park your car beside your tent if the weather permits (and if it doesn't, there's a car park). The grass pitches have access to toilet facilities and a designated washing-up area. Spark up a barbecue for more outdoor fun around the campfire with the kids, and if self-catering isn’t your style, there are pubs within a five-minute drive or 20-minute walk from the site. If you want to get stuck into activities, the site may be able to help you pre-book an outdoor activity with an instructor, although they are not always available. For groups of 10+ only, these activities may include crate stacking, obstacle courses, archery, high ropes and orienteering. Some practical bits and bobs now: this is a dog-friendly site, but your four-legged pals must be kept on leads at all times on site and always cleaned up after, please.

不喜欢 Not a complaint at all, One group seemed to be cutting firewood that was provided by the site. It may be that they brough there own. If it was provided by the site it would be good if this was shared with all the customers.

喜欢 We liked how it's was an open plan field with no marked out plots.
The price was very reasonable and the staff were super friendly.
Really enjoyed that campfires are allowed.
Was only a short walk into town where there are two pubs and a childs park with lots of playground apparatus.

不喜欢 Not the fault of the site however we had a noisy group of polish campers who were drinking and singing with a guitar until 1 o'clock in the morning until I lost my temper and shouted at them!!

喜欢 The toilets were clean, bins available and no litter around the site.

不喜欢 I’m a fan of basic camping - but for me to say there was 25 medium pitches on the field is wrong. The camp ground is on a hill, there are a few flatter (i.e. not flat) pitches but def not 25 of those.

To me, it doesn’t feel fit for purpose; it isn’t “value for money” - people could just turn up over a weekend and leave and no one would care / know. With no one on reception, no one answering text messages (I can’t use the phone to call) it isn’t a great service. I don’t think the facilities are cleaned at all on a weekend.

I wouldn’t opt to pay £20 a night to sleep on a windy hill, in an unmanned site, with no marked pitches and no lighting.
