Holy moly. You'll likely already be sold with the Lake District location of welcoming Church Stile Farm Holiday Park, in the midst of superbly scenic Wasdale with close-by climbing and kayaking on Scafell Pike and Wastwater. But a hard day clambering and kayaking is always best followed by a fine ale and supper at a local watering hole, so you'll likely be sold all the more with Church Stile’s setting only two minutes’ walk from the pub in local hamlet Nether Wasdale, and a licensed riverside café too. Praise be. All is praiseworthy on site too: Church Stile Farm Holiday Park covers about seven acres of a spacious oak woodland and wildlife-laden setting, with venerable views of the Wasdale valley and the Screes mountain range. Facilities are kept to high standards and include free hot showers in separate ladies’ and gents’ washrooms, free hairdryers (for both ladies and gents, hurrah), and a disabled/family room with baby changing unit. The laundry room has a free freezer for ice blocks, a token-operated washing machine and a dryer. To keep the kids happy when they’re not sorting out the laundry, there’s a well-equipped play area with swings and climbing frames, a grass area for ball games, and a woodland area adjacent to the site for wildlife spotting and walks. Picnic tables are dotted around the park and barbecues/firepits are available to hire (pick up essentials for the barbie in the shop and some wood from the Church Stile team, or venture to the farm shop a few minutes' walk away).

喜欢: Great facilities and location! 15 minute drive to the foot of Scafell Pike, plenty of available items in the campsite shop (we even got some free spuds!), and a very short walk from the local pub!!

不喜欢: The ground is quite rocky under the grass pitches making it a bit more difficult to peg the tent out but after a few minutes and a few bent pegs you get there! Worth bringing some spare pegs and a mallet

喜欢: It is an ideal location for hiking Wasdale area.
The pitches are in separate fields and flat with easy access , ideal for the rainy weather the Lakes have.
The shower and toilet cubicle are clean and well maintained.
The laundry only has one washer and dryer ( not a problem when we stayed , but possibly could be if busier ? ). Tokens are available that are reasonably priced.
The shop has everything you need .

喜欢: Location was lovely with surrounding mountains and trees. Kids enjoyed going to the onsite playground

不喜欢: We came 6 years ago and had a lovely stay. It seems alot busier now. Some more toilets would be a good addition, several times I went and with my young son and they were all occupied. Removing the urinal could fit 3/4 more toilets.
More choice at breakfast rather than croissants would be nice too. I'd have preferred to spend my money on-site, but we went out every morning elsewhere.
It was the same price to buy a can of beer at the shop as the pub down the road.

喜欢: The toilets and showers were lovely, well maintained and clean.
Had a laundry room which was lovely and warm and plenty of people were drying boots and clothes in there.
Shop was nice, good selection of food available.
Site was clean and well maintained.
The free explorer bus was at the end of the road.
Could get phone signal all over. Didn’t use the wifi at the shop.

不喜欢: The 11pm quiet time is late, would prefer this to be earlier but I understand it’s a family site.
The quiet pitches were next to the football area so not at all quiet.

喜欢: Perfect location for hiking with a local pub within a couple of minutes walk a well stocked camp shop with friendly and helpful staff.
Very clean facilities with free showers and plenty of them so you didn't have to wait
We ordered pizza's on Saturday night from the pizza van ( very tasty ). Overall a very good site worth a second visit and highly recommend.

不喜欢: Only one issue was that it was difficult to get tent pegs in due to the stoney pitch but not a massive problem we still got them in.
We were intending to hire some bikes as they were advertised to save taking our own but we were told the hire shop has moved to a different location a distance away.

Whether you’re climbing, canoeing or just ambling gently around with picnic in backpack, the Wasdale valley is a pretty pleasant place for a Lake District break. The valley is over 10 miles long if you fancy a full day’s historic hike, starting from the village of Wasdale Head, the start of the Three Peaks Challenge and the former home of Cumbrian pub landlord Will Ritson, whose tall tales led to the still-going-strong Biggest Liar Competition. One of the tiniest churches in the land, St Olaf’s, is at Wasdale in its ‘Viking fields’: Wasdale was originally settled by Norse farmers and the beams in the church are rumoured to be from Viking longships. Climbers can get to Scafell Pike and Great Gable from Wasdale Head, but walkers can continue along the valley length down to the village of Gosforth, which has the biggest Viking Cross in England at the Grade I-listed St Mary’s Church. Finally, fancy the beach? The Cumbrian coast at Seascale is seven miles from Church Stile Farm (walkable, you might reckon), with miles of sandy beach leading to the Lake District’s only coastal village, the fishing village of Ravenglass.
