Are you after a quiet, secluded and no-frills East Yorkshire spot – with easy access to hikes and the Yorkshire coast as well as some shops and pubs? White Cottage Holiday Park should see you sorted if so, as it's in peaceful and remote countryside just outside the town of Hornsea on the East Yorkshire coast. There's easy access from here to the Trans Pennine Trail, the long-distance path running for 215 miles from coast to coast across the north of England from Southport to Hornsea; plenty more scenic countryside walks, footpaths and trails start from around these parts too if you'd rather strike out on your own. The site is run by a local family who've given it a bit of a spruce up over the past couple of years, installing an updated amenities building with eco-friendly touches like locally sourced timber, lambswool insulation and a ground source heat pump system for the hot water and heating. With the seaside town of Hornsea a mile away, a major supermarket, shops, newsagents, bank and post office are all within walking distance.

喜欢 Excellent site, our pitch was large and really flat.
Plenty of room between other pitches , so nice and peaceful.
Ideally located near to Hornsea and the trans pennine route was such a bonus.
Toilet and shower block was in top condition too.
Thanks for the effort you guys obviously put in , will be coming again soon

喜欢 Great location next to the Trans Pennine path and also close to supermarkets etc in Hornsea. Campsite was well setup with super showers and toilet facilities. All in all a perfectly run and maintained site.

喜欢 We like that the site is clean and plenty of space

不喜欢 The cake hut was closed again.

On arrival we were told to ring a mobile located at the site entrance but nobody answered the phone, we knew where to park but why have this instruction if nobody is going to react.

The showers were clean but not enough off floor area to put clothes to stop them getting wet, only 2 showers working out of the 3.

Not enough refuse bins and the ones they have are by the entrance.

Dish wash area was dirty I had to clean my area before I could use the sink.

不喜欢 No dog poo bins only main bins at entrance hard standing ground for caravan is ok but does not hold pegs in the ground very well so be aware when it's very windy also only one peg to hang cloths in shower cubicle and no ware to put your toiletries for a shower.

喜欢 The location was ideal for visiting friends that live in Hornsea as you can walk there from the site. The plots are well spaced and once the trees mature a bit more will provide more shelter from the east coast winds! The toilets and showers were clean and tidy. TV reception was good.

不喜欢 There wasn't much to dislike really. Maybe just the fact that the bins were right up by the site entrance which, if you're in one of the far pitches, may be inconvenient.

Get onto one of the local footpaths or trails from White Cottage Holiday Park, or tackle as much as you dare of the Trans Pennine Trail, which finishes up in Hornsea after its epic run east from Merseyside's Southport. Its mainly traffic-free route is suitable for horse riding and bikes too (and in most cases buggies and wheelchairs) and it was voted the best National Cycle Network in the country in 2015. Also within easy reach is Hornsea Mere, the biggest freshwater lake in Yorkshire and where peeps flock to for birdwatching, rowing, sailing, boat trips and fishing. Set on the remains of a vast wetland, it's a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area for birds, with many species visiting throughout the year. A café and 18-hole putting green are on the mere's shore. White Cottage is 13 miles from Beverley, with rail access to York and Hull for shopping and days out. You could also wander around the many stately homes of the region, such as Burton Constable Hall, Burton Agnes and Rise Hall.
