Have fishing rod, will travel. If your dream holiday involves sitting on the banks of a peaceful lake while casting a line, Gatton Waters Caravan Park might well be the place for you. Sitting a five-minute drive from the Norfolk village of Hillington, this adults-only site spreading over 24 acres has its own coarse-fishing lake, stocked with carp, roach, rudd, perch, bream and tench. It also has a fully-stocked bar open on weekends. While you indulge your favourite activity, the rest of your family (and the dog, who is a welcome guest here) might prefer to explore the surrounding woodlands, which is inhabited by hares and other wildlife. Speaking of wildlife, the lake itself attracts plenty of winged creatures; however, if you’re into birdwatching, you should take the half-hour drive to Scolt Head Island National Nature Reserve, an area of salt marshes and sand dunes populated by terns, plovers and wintering geese. Some might prefer a day at the seaside, maybe at sandy Brancaster Beach (25 minutes) or Holkham Beach (40 minutes), or at Blakeney Point (45 minutes), which is known for its seal colony. Want to catch a spectacular Norfolk sunset? Head to Snettisham Beach (20 minutes), then get back to the site for an evening barbecue (stopping for provisions in Hillington, which has a fully stocked convenience store and a petrol station). Not in the mood for cooking? There are plenty of pubs serving locally sourced food and ales in the nearby villages. Amenities at the caravan park include ladies’ and gents’ heated shower and toilet blocks, and a washing-up area, as well as electric hook-up, chemical disposal, wifi and charging and recycling facilities.

喜欢: Really enjoyed our week long stay. The site is beautiful and picturesque looking over the large lake. It's a well kept site all the facilities are very good. The owners are very friendly and I had a good chat in the bar over a pint or two 😄🍻.The fishing is brilliant for Roach, Skimmers/Bream and Perch, but the Carp can be harder to catch because they're big wise fish. I had my PB Mirror Carp of 22lbs and that day I had 5 Carp for 80lbs. We are looking forward to go again and next time we will probably do 2 weeks. Happy days 😁

来自经理: Lakeside pitches are prioritized on availability at the time of booking, and request. For bank holidays, when we are usually 100% full (as we were for this one), we look at the length of the stay, how long ago folks booked, whether we have any space and if there is an expressed desire for a particular pitch, as mentioned on the website. This booking was made on the 14th May for the bank holiday starting May 23rd, with no specific request for lakeside, so it was impossible to anticipate and satisfy a request that came on the day of arrival. We are always happy to try to find the best spot we can for all our guests, but its only fair to accommodate those that book first and pick a spot. We're sorry that we didn't hit the mark this time, but we are grateful for the positive comments and we'd be happy to find you a lakeside pitch should you try us again.

喜欢: This is becoming One of our favourite sites! We stayed on the pitcthat was close to the toilets/showers and a couple of steps from the lake.

This site is so well kept, it’s family owned and shows, the care and attention from the arrival, to leaving is fantastic. You are shown to your pitch, everything is explained and they are on hand if needed through your stay. The toile/shower blocks are lovely and clean, lots of hot water and they stay clean throughout the day because they are being checked regularly, We liked it here so much we came back within a month of the last visit

It was fully booked this bank holiday weekend but we didn’t feel overcrowded, there are enough facility blocks around for everyone, plenty of space to walk round with your pooch and lots of people to say hi too. We will be back!
