Set on a secluded working farm with glorious views over Derbyshire hillsides, Flagg View is a no-frills camping site with just a handful of pitches and plenty of space for all. For lovers of bracing fresh air and outdoor adventures, this quiet spot is close to loads of activities in the Peak District National Park. Yep, you can keep the family (and your canine pals) busy on moorland and hill walks to ancient stone circles and hill barrows. Other activities within a half-hour’s drive include kayaking and sailing on Tittesworth Reservoir, teeing off on several golf courses, or fishing. Pick up supplies for your barbecue at handy supermarkets in Matlock (half an hour’s drive), although there’s no pressure to cook really, as several cosy inns offering real ales and classic pub menus are within walking distance. A couple of local farm shops produce award-winning ice cream (great for bribing the kids to behave), where you can also pick up meat cuts to grill on the barbecue (bring your own gear). This being a straightforward stop, there’s no hot water available on site, and basic amenities don’t stretch any further than chemical waste disposal.

喜欢 Tranquil, beautiful and yes farm smells, but isn’t that the point??? Surrounded by piggies and Chook Chooks that supplied our morning breakfast, and absolutely delicious they were too! A spacious plot with minimal pitches made this site ultra special and the walks were wonderful. Only 2 mile, mostly off road into Monyash with the Bull pub and the start of many great circular/ out and back walks. Jack was really friendly and chatted to Mr B about the piggies and checked in on us to make sure everything was OK. Highly recommend this site and very good value too!!!

喜欢 The location, the farmer was very helpful.

不喜欢 No internet, the noise of the pigs or the smell. It was a bit stinky. Maybe I'm just not used to farm smells. We couldn't get the motorhome level, but that wasn't an issue.
You'll definitely need chocs if you stay.
I wouldn't stay again, but only because of the smell

喜欢 Lovely quiet site, very friendly owner, came to speak to us within half an hour of getting set up to give us an information sheet of the area and remind us about using eco toilet chemicals (in the info on pitchup but easy to miss). Fresh eggs on sale on the drive were lovely. A 15m or so drive to Bakewell and the Monsal Trail, we found this a really good base for a 5 day trip.

喜欢 Lovely quiet site, the owner John ( I think his name is ) was very welcoming, very nice man, we walked to the nearest pub but walked along the road side, be aware there is only grass verges no foot paths & the traffic flies up & down there pretty fast a bit dodgy with the dog!
The pub was busy but didn’t wait too long, the staff was very friendly & food was nice.

喜欢 This is a lovely small site set on a farm. The views are beautiful, excellent base for walking in the Derbyshire Dales.
The owner very friendly. Fresh farm eggs on sale. Lovely cows in cow,d very close to the pitches. Will definitely stay again.

Valleys, lakes and moors are just waiting to be explored on foot or bike, with the Three Shires Head circular route (20 minutes’ drive) revealing waterfalls and rock pools for paddling. Serious cyclists can access the High Peak Trail in minutes, and if you didn’t bring the bikes, hire them at Parsley Hay (five minutes). It’s worth a potter around cute Peak District towns like Bakewell with its lovely Wye riverside walks, and Buxton (both 15 minutes), where you can catch performances at the grand opera house. There’s plenty on offer for culture vultures too; Chatsworth House is packed with art treasures and its extensive grounds make a perfect picnic spot, while you can explore Tudor-era rooms at fortified Haddon Hall (both 25 minutes). Top of the to-do list for kids may well be the thrill rides at Alton Towers (40 minutes), but if your children are younger, you might fancy an afternoon’s pirate-themed fun on gentle log flumes at Gulliver’s Kingdom or a cable-car ride up to the Heights of Abraham (both half an hour) outlook for cavern tours and fossil exhibitions.
