Now here’s a nifty north Wales holiday spot – St Mary’s Holiday Park is in a handy Denbighshire location next to Gronant Dunes, just outside Prestatyn (and about a mile and a half from the resort’s main beach and golf club). Access via a main road means it’s easy to get in and out, even with touring vehicles, and there’s a bus stop just outside for convenient access to public transport (including summertime open-top bus services). Plant yourselves down here for a little while and you’ll be in a prime spot for exploring the north Wales coastline – Rhyl’s close by as well, and days out in Llandudno or Conwy or over on Anglesey are all well within reach. Turning your sights inland might take you for hikes in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape or to the historic streets of Chester. And while the location’s a particularly good one for travelling around, there’s also a fair amount to keep you at the park, including an outdoor play area and a tea room for refreshments. And if that’s not enough, as a guest at St Mary’s Holiday Park, you are permitted to use the facilities (swimming pool, miniature golf, a restaurant and kids’ activities) at the sister flagship park, Lyons Robin Hood Holiday Park, which is a 10-minute drive away. As a firmly family-friendly park, all the essential facilities are covered too, including a launderette and a bathroom block with showers, toilets and accessible facilities. Family pet need a break too? You’ll be pleased to hear that dogs are welcome at St Mary’s Holiday Park.

Gostou The location was great for the beach. Easy to reach and the one member of staff we met was a great help. Clean and tidy site and well maintained, with ample room, on the pitches.

Não gostou The café did not appear to be open during our time on site, the sign was turned to closed during our stay.
Access to the Robin Hood site, we were unable to book any of the activities due to volume of people using these, the swimming pool was fully booked each day.
The play park for the children is urgently in need of some TLC, most things were broken or needed repairing.
During the evening/night time, sound of road users vehicle noise was at times constant.

Gostou The pitch was spotless, plenty of room, I arrived late as I'd been on the beach, called up the warden was lovely said we're on site anyway. Had 5 lovely peaceful nights, no noise, no groups just lovely people wanting a restful break.
Fishing pit is lovely and currently work is going on by the end of the year it will be an amazing Fishing pit. We caught 6 roach really easily and quick so great for my eldest with adhd, his concentration isnt the best!
Showers and toilets lovely and clean and water was lovely and hot.
Sad the tea room wasn't open, however its not financially viable through the week so totally understandable. Reception lady was lovely, kind and helpful.
Near enough to beach, fair, shops and regular buses to all the coastal areas.

Não gostou Stayed 2 nights middle August and nowhere in the washroom had been cleaned while we were there at all. Toilet paper all over the floor. Stagnant bucket of water left for campers to clean floor was filthy and extremely foul smelling, must’ve been standing there for weeks
Shower ran for about 4 seconds, no exaggeration, unless you kept one hand pressing button. Taps hanging loose off sinks

Nowhere to walk dogs unless you go onto a very busy road or around path on the small site.

Gostou It looks nice. We had plants of space. It is close to the beach, walk or bike just a small part on busy road and then off road. Play area is small but nice. Some ducks around near the pond behind the campsite. Hot showers which I have enjoyed.

Não gostou I did not like that we had to scan each time to get to the toilet. Kids don’t have this habit to remember about it when in need.
Moreover we could hear busy road all the time. It may not be an issue for some but I like to hear only nature while camping.

Gostou Nice well maintained quiet site. within walking distance of a bar/restaurant and a pony club site with cafe. not much further to the beach and a nearby holiday park site with lots going on for families if desired.
Shower and toilet facility was good with plenty of hot water.
There was also a decent area for pot washing with a washing machine and drier available.
Staff were pleasant - plots were well spaced and nice and level!

Não gostou on site cafe was not great. limited opening and not a proper coffee machine so we didnt use it.

Atrações locais

There’s heaps to do along the north Wales coast – when you’re not hitting taking a walk through Gronant Dunes or hitting the sandy beaches in Prestatyn (five minutes’ drive), Talacre (five minutes) or Rhyl (15 minutes) you could be teeing off at Prestatyn Golf Club (five minutes) or riding the Rhyl Miniature Railway (20 minutes). Drive a little further west and you can spend the day visiting the imposing Conwy Castle (40 minutes), touring the Great Orme in Llandudno (45 minutes) or crossing the Menai Bridge to Anglesey (an hour). Minor diversions inland en route could take you to Bodnant Garden (40 minutes) or for Eryri/Snowdonia walks from Llanrwst (55 minutes). There are plenty more walks to be had close to the park in the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley National Landscape, perhaps also stopping at St Asaph Cathedral (20 minutes) or Denbigh Castle (35 minutes). Crossing over into England is also a good idea, for a trip to Chester (45 minutes) for its zoo and a circuit of its city walls.
