How about a holiday packed with beach walks, sea swims and watersports? Book yourselves a break at EuroParcs Hindeloopen and that’s the sort of menu that awaits. This Friesland site is in a fabulous location right by the IJsselmeer, a couple of kilometres south of the village of Hindeloopen. That means you’ll be able to wander out onto the beach whenever you fancy it for a walk or a swim. The water here is usually quite calm so it’s a great place for paddleboarding – and there’s a paddleboarding centre just next door where you can hire kit, join guided outings or sign up for lessons. (Please note that the site's nature permit means watersports are only permitted from the start of April to the end of September.) Beach time is a brilliant option, of course, but that’s not all there is to this location. It’s also in an excellent spot for touring some of the Eleven Cities of Friesland – day trips to places like Workum, Sneek and Sloten are easily doable. The area has several good family attractions to visit as well, plus natural lake landscapes to walk around and other outdoor activities to try (golf, kitesurfing, surfing and sailing are all options nearby). You’ll be staying right by the coast at this park, but you’ll be sheltered from any seaside breezes and other weather as you’ll be staying in a sturdy and cosy Tiny House, with heating to warm you up when you come in from the beach. Each one is self contained with its own ensuite bathroom and a kitchen with fridge, cooker, microwave, kettle and toaster (there’s a small supermarket in Hindeloopen for food supplies).

Lokalne atrakcje

A tour of the ‘Eleven Cities of Friesland’ is known to be a good way to get to grips with this area – and you'll be able to visit several of these historic towns easily from this site. Start, of course, in Hindeloopen, with a visit to Museum Hindeloopen (five minutes’ drive/half an hour’s walk), before moving on to Workum (10 minutes' drive) to visit the Jopie Huisman Museum and see the Wild Lions fountain. Stavoren (10 minutes) is next, for a wander around the harbour and some time looking out for the town’s statues. After that, maybe on to Sneek (25 minutes) for the Frisian Shipping Museum, the impressive Water Gate and some classic Dutch architecture. For outings with the kids, take a look at Alpaca World Friesland (10 minutes), take to the pint-sized rides for preteens at Sybrandy's Speelpark (25 minutes) or learn about local landscapes at Bezoekerscentrum Mar en klif (20 minutes).
