What's that rustling in the long grass? At The Wildings Elms Meadow, it could be any number of birds, mammals or insects, as this peaceful site in the quiet East Anglian countryside is passionate about protecting the local area's biodiversity. Plenty of areas around this small-scale site have been left aside for nature, including a wildlife pond with a viewing platform. You're welcome to explore the grounds during your stay here – the little ones may particularly like the wooden playhouse hidden away in the greenery… With spacious and secluded pitches, The Wildings Elms Meadow is a place to escape the hectic pace of everyday life and tune into the rhythms of the natural world, from the dawn chorus in the morning to the crackling of a fire and stargazing at night (firepits are available for hire, and wood can be bought from site staff). Facilities here include a toilet and shower block, a communal kitchen area as well as access to running water and a washing-up area. Dogs are welcome to come and join you here, but they must be kept on leads at all times. Please note that parking is separate from the pitches to protect children and wildlife (wheelbarrows are available for arrivals and departures). The Wildings Elms Meadow is on the edge of the small village of Aldeby. For shops, pubs, restaurants and snacks, you're about three miles from the pretty little town of Beccles (five minutes' drive).

Likte The layout of the campsite is brilliant for nature, privacy, and community generating, and it is fun. Each camper has their allocated roomy private space marked by generally native bushes, hedges, trees and flowers. There are multiple little private pathways between pitches and the hub (kitchen, shower, toilet). You can never get bored travelling the pathways!

Likte The owners could not have been more friendly and helpful.
The layout of the site was fabulous - we had our own generous area surrounded by trees and shrubs yet close to the facilities.
We loved hearing and seeing all the birdlife which thrive in the surroundings.
The communal kitchen with use of a fridge and freezer was extremely useful as the weather was very hot and our little camping fridge just could not cope.
Everything we could possibly need was provided.
Our many and varied days out were all within 15 to 20 miles of the site so it is an excellent location for exploring Norfolk and Suffolk areas.

Likte For us a gem of a find, A small peaceful, well maintained site, pitches large and private. Toilets amd showers really good and more importantly really clean, communal kitchen with fridge/freezer.
Hire of fire pits available!
Can clearly see the pride that goes into the maintenance of this site.
The host even offered all campers to go into her own house during the huge storm lFriday 13th June during the early hours.
Will definitely go back.

Camping-pod Bumblebee

Likte Friendly owners Anissa and Kevin are very helpful and are always at hand by means of a phone call should you need something.
We stayed in the Bumblebee Pod that was clean and well stocked with all you need for the stay ie: bedding, towels, cooking utensils, cups, plates, cutlery etc. plus tea bags, coffee, sugar and even milk in the fridge plus a bottle of Prosecco was on the table.
The pod did not have a toilet but the personal toilet shower room was just a few meters away.
the Bumblebee pod was set in it's own large private area (as is all pods and most pitches) surrounded by bushes and fencing we loved the privacy.
The Wildings is a great place to be if you like star gazing and astro photography (weather permitting) it is in a fairly dark sky area with very little light pollution. We had a long clear night on our first night and I manage to take 3 hours of Nebula photos for staking. A firepit is supplied with the Bumblebee pod, other pods and campers can hire them. Fuel logs etc and even marshmallows can be purchased on site.
This is a great friendly site and we will come back again.

Likte ikke The smoke from some of the fire pits was a bit of a nuisance once or twice but that all depended on the wind direction. It did not spoil our 3 night stay.

Camping-pod Bumblebee

Likte Great place, would highly recommend it if you're looking for peace and quiet in a scenic location. We stayed in 'Bumblebee' pod which is ideal for two people and a small dog. The pod is located in its own private area with an outside cooking spot, fire pit and seating. The pod itself is very compact but comes equipped with everything you need. It is fully insulated and even has underfloor heating should you require it. We did find a couple of 8 legged friends had taken up residence inside the pod but this is to be expected given the rural location. Quickly released into the garden and no further issues. The private bathroom is located in the shower/toliet block which is a 60 second walk from the pod along a well maintained garden path. Also, the staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. Overall if you're looking to wake up every day to birdsong and sunshine this is the place for you.

There's lots to do in the local area, starting with the gorgeous Norfolk and Suffolk coast. The pretty seaside resort of Southwold (25 minutes' drive) is a great place to start, while nearby Walberswick (35 minutes) is a top pick for crabbing with the kids. If you're after a wild, natural beach that's great for a walk or picnic, try Covehithe (25 minutes), a mix of sand and shingle. This site is also right on the edge of The Broads National Park, so hire a boat in Beccles (five minutes), try paddleboarding in Wroxham (40 minutes), or bring your binoculars and head off birdwatching at any one of the many nature reserves dotted around the surrounding area. Kids coming away with you will almost certainly appreciate trips to BeWILDerwood Norfolk (40 minutes) in the Broads too – it's got trails, swings and other forest-themed activities that are bound to keep them entertained for hours. Time in town is easily arranged if you feel like a change of scene, whether you're heading to Norwich (35 minutes) for a wander around its castle and cathedral or fancy visiting breweries in Ipswich (an hour) or shopping in Bury St Edmunds (an hour).
