Peaceful Norfolk farmland all around but easy access to all sorts of attractions and amenities – that’s the tempting mix on offer with stays at Driftways Glamping and Camping. Based on Moat Farm, about five minutes’ drive from the little town of Pulham Market, this is a splendid location for a farm-based family break. Site owners Vanessa and Andrew aim to make their site both comfy and eco-friendly, so although it’s all off grid guests can access plug sockets, a fridge and a freezer over in The Dairy, just over the road in the family smallholding. Recycling bins are also provided (although guests are politely requested to keep glass usage to a minimum) and the shared shower facilities are heated by gas and solar power. Each group at this site has its own clean compost toilet, campfire area, picnic bench and cooking area – and the friendly owners will throw in a bag of firewood for each booking too. There’s an excellent local food hall a mile away where you can pick up top-notch fresh local produce and drinks – it’s got a great café too if you fancy a cream tea (and who doesn’t?) There are a couple of good food pubs to check out in Pulham Market too, and local takeaways are happy to deliver to the farm. Wondering what to do for days out?   • Minimumafstand van 6 meter tussen de staplaatsen.
  • Dit is een rustige plek: muziek is strikt verboden.
  • Als je vuur wilt maken, dien je de brandstof, houtblokken en kolen daarvoor ter plaatse te kopen.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Caravans, campers en kampeerbusjes met de passagiersdeur aan de linkerkant zijn niet toegestaan.
  • Er is geen open vuur toegestaan in de gehuurde accommodaties.
  • Houd er rekening mee dat de toiletten/douches uniseks zijn.

Ik was blij met: Very big pitches with much privacy for they are separated from other pitches by high grass. And from the roads by a hedge. A clean toilet at your own pitch. The grass was clean so walking barefoot on your pitch was no problem. A quiet place most of the time. Nice Showers. Free fridge for your cooling elements. And a beautiful forest with wild deer and playing posibilities nearby. Friendly owners. quite some birds and butterflies.

Ik was niet zo blij met: There was quite some loud agricultural traffic, but maybe this had to do with te harvest of the wheat during our stay. The informationdesk was not well organised yet. And you had to get te water for doing the dishes in the shower. We were told that was stil work in progress.

Ik was blij met: Amazing peacefull place. A lot of space and privacy. Everything you need for a perfect glamping experience. Toilets, showers, bell tent, kitchen all very clean and tidy.

Ik was blij met: The host is very accommodating with times of arrival / departure, trust based shop with things you might need during your stay, pitch are designed in a very intimate way allowing you to have privacy (unusual for camp sites). Your own toilets which is a luxury!

The Boudicca Way walking trail runs just past the site, or you could take a 15-minute walk to get to Tyrrel’s Wood, a Woodland Trust site that has walking and cycling routes to explore. A little further afield, there are lots of walking trails in The Broads National Park (half an hour), along with options for boat hire, kayaking and fishing. Day at the beach? Stick to Norfolk for traditional entertainment at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach (40 minutes) and seal spotting at Horsey Gap (45 minutes), or cross into Suffolk for a stroll on the pier and a brewery tour in Southwold (40 minutes). If you’re looking for ways to entertain the kids, try Banham Zoo (20 minutes), Bressingham Steam & Gardens (25 minutes) or an encounter with the exotic beasts at Africa Alive! animal park (40 minutes).
