If you’re keen on the sound of a simple getaway with ample bike rides, campfires and beach days (among other things), there will be some smiling faces at Forest Edge. This tree-lined rural setting is within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where walks and cycle routes weave past the likes of woodlands, open heaths and river valleys. There’s a lot that’ll turn your head locally, aside from that. Sidmouth, a scenic seaside resort with Regency architecture, a beach and pretty hikes to Peak Hill, is only a 10-minute drive away from Forest Edge. This town is known as the gateway to the Jurassic coast, so you could soon be hunting down fossils and sheer cliffs. Handily, it’s a five-minute drive to Ottery St Mary, a pretty handy town (known fondly by locals as Ottery) with a good number of independent shops, as well as a supermarket. If you’d rather have a pint of something local, the local pub is only a 20-minute walk in the opposite direction to Ottery St Mary. If you’re back after 10pm, it’s quiet time in the designated quiet zones on site (so that families and other sleepy guests can get their important shut-eye). You may very well be ready to hit the hay after exploring the 30 acres of wild land surrounding Forest Edge or visiting local National Trust properties. Earlier on, feel free to hire a firepit and log bundle from the site, which includes firelighters and kindling. Fresh water points, a toilet block and hot showers make up the site’s other very handy facilities. Dogs are very welcome here, just as long as they’re kept on a lead at all times within the site.

Mi è piaciuto: We liked how the whole camp site was set up. We loved how the patches of land between pitches was left to grow wild. We saw kestrels, barn owls, pheasants and wild orchids which was amazing. Excellent walks and pubs locally. The shower and toilet facilities were very clean and tidy. The

Mi è piaciuto: A great campsite: big grassy pitches with plenty of space between them, clean toilets and showers, it was exactly what we'd hoped for. Decent pub for food s short walk away. The campsite owner was friendly and really helpful. We definitely recommend this campsite!

Tenda campana (animali proibiti, deluxe)

Mi è piaciuto: Great location, fantastic hosts.
We hired 5 fully furnished Bell tents and 1 pet friendly tent. Furnished tents were nice, big enough to accommodate 4 adults and we're provided with everything one would need to have a very comfortable stay.
Sarah and Andy were super helpful hosts.
Forest surrounding the site is full of birds and animals, you can hear them in the night.
Toilet and shower facilities are good. Toilets could be even better with a use of bit bigger hand washers and mirrors.

Mi è piaciuto: The lovely layout and simplicity of the site, with lots of space around each massive pitch make Forest Edge stand out.

Forest Edge looks beautiful with its wild meadow separating the well-kept grass pitches. The space was perfect for us and our reactive dog, I've never seen him so relaxed, both day and night because he didn't feel the need to 'guard' our tent/pitch/van/campsite/county... :) On a 'normal' campsite you've got people walking past the tent day and night so he barks a lot.

The solar showers were brilliant, clean and hot. The toilet facilities were also perfect.

The hosts were very welcoming, friendly and kept themselves busy all the time.

Non mi è piaciuto: The only downside for us on a site with no electric is that there isn't a communal freezer for freezing ice packs. Although we were allowed to put some in the owners' freezer it felt a bit cheeky. A separate freezer would be a massive bonus in summer.

Mi è piaciuto: What a fabulous place. Huge camping area so it is not at all crowded. Lovely and welcoming hosts. Excellent hot showers and toilets. Everything solar powered. Good 4G signal. Idyllic location on the edge of a forest. Dog friendly. Everything we needed and we had a lovely couple of nights here. 5* and we would come again. Thank you xxx

Fancy a good hike? Pull on your outdoor gear and make a beeline for Dartmoor National Park (35 minutes’ drive). The craggy landscape has heaps of walking trails and wandering Dartmoor ponies, as well as the occasional Neolithic tomb and medieval farmhouse. Finding lush outdoor scenery is rather easy, what with all of the gorgeous scenery around the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Alpaca trekking (10 minutes) is a unique way to take it in (and spend a couple of hours with a bunch of - possibly - hilarious animals). Donkeys provide the dramatics at The Donkey Sanctuary (10 minutes) in Sidmouth; plus, there’s the bonus that they’re being very well cared-for thanks to the funding of visitors. Shoot down the log flume or pay a visit to the family of meerkats at Crealy Theme Park & Resort (20 minutes) too.

I minori di 18 anni possono soggiornare nel campeggio soltanto se accompagnati dai genitori o da una persona autorizzata.

Alloggi

Alla partenza l'alloggio deve essere lasciato pulito e in ordine, pena l'addebito di un supplemento per le pulizie finali pari a 25,00 £ (30,17 €).
Alloggi: all'arrivo sarà necessario pagare un deposito di 50,00 £ (60,34 €) per danni/pulizia/braccialetto che verrà restituito alla partenza previa ispezione dell'unità abitativa, a condizione che non siano riscontrati danni.
È proibito accendere fiamme libere all'interno delle unità.

Animali

I cani devono essere sempre tenuti al guinzaglio e sotto controllo.
