A aimé We liked the location and the facilities. Kids enjoyed running around and our night time bbqs and fires. Very laid back and friendly atmosphere.

N'a pas aimé We were pitched on a hill, which we managed okay with but would have been easier to be flatter.

We are very relaxed here, all we want is for everyone to have a lovely time while staying. The majority of vistors over the Bank Holiday wekend had all been here many times before, so it is always a nice atmosphere.

Next time you come, just give me a ring and I will make sure I reserve one of the level pitches for you.

N'a pas aimé Proximity of super loud road. We had cars passing by few meters form our pitch, separated from the campsite by a hedge and small fence only. This was not a peaceful camping experience.

Réponse du gestionnaire : I am sorry you did not enjoy your brief stay with us, if you had stayed longer than just a few hours I think you would have had time to appreciate the site.

We did go out of our way to accomodate you, you made a late booking, you arrived on site an hour after our final arrival time. As you booked so late and it being the Bank Holiday weekend I was not able to give you a pitch already booked by others, some who had booked up to a year in advance.

The road is not a main road it is only a C road, however as this is the countryside and it is harvest time there will be the odd tractor passing. There were thirteen other caravans/motorhomes parked along the hedgerow by the roadside where you were and not one of them commented on the noise of the road. The boundary is actually a row of ash trees and a hedgerow.

I hope you managed to find a quieter site, which I think would be difficult on the busy August bank Holiday weekend.

I am really surprised at your 1/5 rating for the location, this is a beautiful part of the countryside with access to most parts of Dorset within an hour.

Also disapopoointed to see a 2/5 for value for money, I don't know of any other site who would give a reduced price because a member of your group didn't turn up on the day, which i did.

The road can busy during the day but is quite at night.

We are pleased with our new toilet block, it took a bit longer than we wanted but we think it was worth the wait,

Only 30 minutes from the beaches and about an hour for anywhere else in Dorset, we are very central here.

A aimé We stayed at Giants Head campsite because we were walking the Wessex Ridgeway with a relative and we were all so glad that we did. It could not have been a better location for this walk because the Wessex Ridgeway passes behind the campsite and I'm sure it would be a superb base for many other places to walk in Dorset. We had a lovely welcome from the owner Caroline who was always around the site if we needed to ask her any questions. Considering the site was packed and it was the middle of the school holidays, the site was clean, well organized and relatively quiet. Caroline kindly helped us to complete the final section of our weekend's walking by helping us with parking and we were extremely grateful for that. Prices were very competitive, the welcome pack was very informative, the showers were excellent and we were amazed with the phone and internet signal. One tip: Ask for a pitch closer to the entrance if you want a flat pitch.

A aimé The campsite owner kept a good eye on the site so everyone was well behaved and there was a very friendly atmosphere. The toilets and showers were always kept very clean, despite the site being busy at the height of the season. Lovely surroundings and good walks could be had from the site.

We are pleased to say that out temporary toilet block has now gone and our lovely new toilet block is open, just need a few final touch ups.

We are lucky to be in such a lovely polace with lots of great walks.

We do keep on top of the cleaning and bins, so much easier to clean when it's done regularly thoughout the day. It will be even better when our new toilet block opens this week.

A aimé Local walks into the village and across the hills were fantastic. Stunning scenery.
Village has 3 pubs very welcoming.
Owners have lots of maps for the local walks .

N'a pas aimé Pitches close together , felt on top of each other .
A lot of permanent pitch holders / residents.

Réponse du gestionnaire : We are really sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us, when you were here you gave the impression that you were enjoying your time.

I am very surprised at your other comments,
Your pitch had no one around you at all, as it was a single pitch under the trees, which we gave you so you had shelter for your dog, and was away from the children's area.

The pitches which were closer together were family groups, the rest of the site had the required spacing between pitches.

We do have a lot of returning visitors on site, who leave their caravan with us during the summer months but we do not have any residential pitches, we are a touring site only.

If you want a quiet site it may be an idea to not go to a family site during the busiest time of the year, the school summer holidays.

A aimé Friendly , quiet, beautifully maintained campsite. Basic facilities but impeccably clean. Helpful manager. Great location for what we needed.

N'a pas aimé Road next to campsite could be a little noisy and a little tricky to cross due to the speed.
Little confusion between staff on the final day regarding time needed to vacate pitch which made leaving a little hectic.

The road canbe a little busy but unfortunately there is nothing we can do to slow the traffic down, it is only a C road but is better then the main A352 through Cerne Abbas.

Sorry about the leaving time confusion, we have a check out time of 12.00pm and also a check in time of 12.00pm so if someone is later leaving and someone else arrives early it can be a little tight. 12.00pm is usually enough time for most to pack up.
