High Hall Campsite

Me gustó Had a lovely time away campsite was very generous with size of pitches. We went for fishing and we weren't disappointed we caught a few small ones ( lost a big one)There local meat is to die for especially the lamb chops and eggs.Im not used to the eco toilets so the smell was not what im used to but they were usable and well stocked with toilet roll.

Me gustó Such an amazing site with everything you need. Beautifully set out to make the most of the beck and fishing lake. We were in a stunning pitch tucked away down by the river. Facilities were great and my kids loved the ping pong and watching the sunset from the swings. Fiona was an amazing host who checked in to make sure everything was okay, but wasn’t overbearing. Thank you for a brilliant 5 days….just what we needed.

Me gustó Big plus was that they were able to accommodate 18 of us in 4 different parties together on pitches next to each other.

Great space and scenery, beautiful site. Fire pits provided was great.

No me gustó Composite toilets, need to remove the white plastic at the front of them. There were on several occasions where someone had left a BIG No 2 in there. Removing the plastic means that would happen.

Me gustó Beautiful site with massive flat private pitches and plenty of space. Fire pit and picnic table included. Fishing was a bonus and we caught several small carp and one whopper. We loved everything about it, especially the cat!

No me gustó The composting toilets on the site were challenging for some - flushing toilets and power showers available a short pleasant walk away!

Fantastic facilities with plenty of space and great produce available on site.

No me gustó Only thing we disliked was toilets on site .. we didn’t like the idea of this was abit of a treck up the hill to proper toilets.

Me gustó Campsite was in a remote location with tons of great views, especially on top of the hill where there is a swing set and a barn with some board games/table tennis. The campsite has large pitches, very spaced out giving lots of room, they come with a fire pit and a picnic bench (logs can be bought for £10 for a large tub, the tub lasted us three nights). There is also a little shop in the barn selling some food items with an honesty jar such as steaks, fresh milkshakes and bacon, they obviously have experience with camping as it even had marshmallows and skewers. The site has a fishing pond (bring your own rods), and a river running alongside the campsite which you can walk through, which is refreshing, for younger children there is an opportunity for playing. The campsite is well maintained and clean and the owners obviously have passion for their site giving great experience. The owners also came and spoke to us on our departure ensuring our stay was good and is extremely friendly. Location is about an hours drive to popular Lake District towns such as Buttermere and Windermere, and the drive isn’t difficult.

No me gustó The toilets on the campsite are a hole in the ground and you put saw dust on top after use, this in itself isn’t a negative in my opinion as they are kept clean and don’t really have a poor smell, however the walk up the hill to the actual toilets/showers is a little intense. You can walk around the pond to get up the hill however this is a path made by campers walking it and could do with being made properly by the campsite. Honestly this is the only thing on this campsite I deem as a negative and this is me being extremely picky, this is a very good campsite and do not let this put you off.
An opportunity for drastic improvement would be if the owners could build a park area for children to play on (there is swings but more could be better), again, this is me being picky and giving an opportunity for improvements for the campsite.
I even would consider the negatives as opportunities instead of calling them negatives.
