A quiet rural spot to lay your head. Excellent Bavarian dishes available right next to your pitch. Liking the sound of that? You should be thinking seriously about booking a stay at Zur Burgschänke Friedrichsthal, a small family-run site in the middle of Ansbach countryside with grass touring pitches, a restaurant and beer garden. The camping meadow is predominantly flat, with no set pitches so you can settle down in your favourite spot. Views extend over lovely countryside to the edge of the forest – gateway to scenic Bavarian hiking and cycling jaunts, and as there’s no light pollution, at night the skies dance with a starry display. There’s no need to fret about catering matters at all when you stay here, as there’s a breakfast service available – just be sure to put your order in the night before. The traditional tavern serves hearty local dishes and on warmer days there’s no better place to be than the romantic beer garden – both are open all day. Dogs are very welcome on your Bavarian getaway; the owners just ask that they stay on a leash around the site, and that the field be kept clean of waste for other campers.

Peaceful nature setting, great for cycling & walking. Friendly hosts, good grub at the tavern, and decent value. Toilets/showers are basic. Some solo female travellers felt a bit uneasy. Good stopover with room for upgrades.

Disliked TOILET FACILITIES!! OMG
I had to take my spray cleaner in.
Not sure electricity box is safe either.

Disliked As described, lovely place to stay, the owners are wonderful, bring a touch and don’t expect much in the way that f wash facilities. Bring a bag for rubbish, try the food, it’s amazing, take a walk in the countryside. If you have a mobile home and arrive with water, you’ll be fine. We left our at home so probably couldn’t have stayed there comfortably for more than a night but only due to the wash facilities. Honestly, lovely little site. There was live music the night we stayed, authentic German music, absolutely fantastic.

Liked Mit einem Wort … Super!!!!!!
Um das Drumherum lässt sich streiten, aber dafür wir so nett und herzlich empfangen worden. Uns wurde mit Strom geholfen und für eine Unterhaltung war immer Zeit!!! Und das Abendessen eine glatte 12/10.
Wir werden bestimmt wiederkommen

Liked Nothing, did not have a nice experience here.

Disliked Arrived before 8pm, there’s was no one to check me in, no reception , no toilet or shower back, didn’t feel very safe to be honest. Would not recommend or go here again.

Disliked No one there to book in with the toilets and shower's were not usable lucky that we have a shower and toilet in the van, no Internet and if you want electric hook up you need a very long cable, it is ok for a 1 night stay.

Liked Lugn och rofylld plats, med trevliga med gäster. Prisvärd och en räddare i nöden när vi åkte utan att förboka campingplats under högsäsongen. Ganska plan mark vilket underlättar. Hundvänligt. Tillgång till el. Stället har stor potential om lite uppgraderingar sker och lite mer mark-/trädgårdsvård utförs 👍🏼

Liked Rust en uitzicht is echt bijzonder op deze camping. Mooie fiets en wandelmogelijkheden vlakbij de camping. Ook het restaurant nabij de camperplaats serveert een kleine kaart maar goed en redelijk geprijsd.

Disliked De faciliteiten en de gebouwen ogen op het eerste gezicht rommelig en slecht onderhouden. Maar als je daar doorheen kunt kijken een prachtige plek!

Walkers can set out on the photogenic, long-distance Altmühltal Panorama Trail (20 minutes’s drive) along the Altmühl River through gorgeous countryside scattered with bizarre rock formations. When they’ve had enough of culture, make for the sandy lakeside beach at Seezentrum Wald Altmühlsee (also 20 minutes), or take them to Wille Kinderzoo (15 minutes) to feed the elephants and cuddle the miniature ponies.
