A place that describes itself as ‘in the heart of the park’? Well, yes – Camping Onlycamp Au Coeur du Parc’s name is a fitting one indeed, as this quiet site is pretty much right in the centre of the Millevaches Regional Natural Park.
It’s all about enjoying the fabulous nature of the Limousin landscapes here – whether you’re out and about (hiking, horse riding, mountain biking or taking scenic pics perhaps) or chilling out among the trees on site. The pitches here are fairly natural in style, set among the woods and with electric hook-ups for those who want them. There’s a play area, a tennis court and a pétanque court for a bit of gentle entertainment, but no noisy activities or major facilities to distract from the peaceful setting.
All the essentials are in place, however – guests have access to a launderette, a wifi connection and a toilet/shower block. As befits a chilled-out location like this, you’re welcome to set your pitch up as you want (with a barbecue, an awning and/or a gazebo, perhaps) and to bring your dog along to join the holiday fun.
The nearest town, Peyrelevade, is about three minutes’ drive away; it’s not a big place, but it’s full of useful things like a mini market, a bakery, a butcher and a bar to keep you fed and watered.

Local attractions
Get set to spend a fair amount of time out in the fabulous fresh air – the Millevaches Regional Natural Park has lots of trails for hikers and mountain bikers, plus places to go horse riding or fishing.
For other activities, hit the pumptrack a couple of minutes’ walk from the site, play a round at Golf du Chammet (10 minutes’ drive) or try the woodland adventure playground at L’accro-bessou (25 minutes). For more of a woodland challenge, head to the treetop trails at Montoz’Arbres (50 minutes); you can also have some great views from up in the air at Mont Bessou viewing tower (20 minutes).
Other days out might take you to Lac de Vassivière (half an hour) for beaches, watersports and a contemporary art centre, to Site gallo-romain des Cars (20 minutes) for a dip into ancient history, or to La Cité des Insectes (35 minutes) to learn more about these little creatures.
