  • Small quiet Flintshire farm site a mile from Northop
  • Chester, Talacre beach and Moel Famau within a half-hour drive
  • Meet the site's alpacas and buy fresh eggs from the free-range hens
If you prefer the personal vibe of a small family-run site rather than a lively holiday park, you’ll be in your element at The Little Bitty Farm and Campsite. There’s only a small number of pitches at this Flintshire farm site – although you will have to share the place with the resident alpacas and the flock of around 40 free-range hens, plus an assortment of local wildlife (rabbits, ducks and the odd red kite among them). This is a place that's all about peaceful rural stays, with quiet hours and dark skies initiatives in place to ensure all guests can relax and enjoy these lovely surroundings. It’s set on a quiet lane, so you won't be bothered by traffic – but the main road is just a few minutes’ walk away, where you can hail a bus or walk the mile to the nearest village, Northop (which has a handy shop as well as three pubs serving food). Despite the serene rural atmosphere, this is a handy location indeed for getting out to explore the area. The towns Mold and Flint are both within an easy 10-minute drive, and the A55 North Wales Expressway is less than a mile away for journeys further afield. Within half an hour's drive you could be visiting castles, walking up the area's highest hill, hitting the beach, ambling through the forest or touring the historic streets of Chester. Back on site you'll have access to simple facilities including toilets, showers and a chemical disposal point, and you’ll be able to say hello to any friendly locals that drop by to tend their allotments next door. There are usually eggs for sale from the farm's hens.

What customers say

Family-run spot lauded for warm welcome, great hosts. Spotless facilities, well-kitted kitchens/showers. Animals (chickens, alpacas) a hit. Road noise on some spots, but overall peaceful, magical. A hidden gem, many want to return.

Non-electric hardstanding and grass trailer tent pitch

Liked Hosts where excellent
Facilities especially the additional kitchen
Relaxed informal atmosphere with the edition of visiting chickens and fresh eggs
It's a site as it develops is going to be really popular with those of us that dont want the big corporate sites and want the personal friendly touch

Disliked And this is miniscule in the greater scheme of things I sleep light and at times car noise off the road was evident mainly in the evening

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thankyou for your comments, much appreciated and so grateful for the kind words and we will def look at pitch location; we cant do too much but worth more planting or using those pitches for hard sided units if we EVER get planning!!! so thanks much appreciated.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked Lovely small campsite. It was my second time visiting. The owners Kelly and Darren are always friendly and knows you by name. It's become a favourite spot and I can see me visiting more regularly.

Pitches are fairly good size. Nice communal kitchen area for all to use. Love the chickens and alpacas.

First visit was with my husband. Second visit with my adult daughter. Everyone enjoyed a relaxing weekend.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

From the manager: Thanks Chantay, lovely comments and great to have you back again. Keep an eye on our facebook page our planning application is going in this week so fingers crossed we can open and improve things even more.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked We absolutely loved our stay at this campsite. The amenities were excellent and we had everything we needed and more. The site even provided a BBQ for a small rental fee supplied with coals and fire lighters. The kitchen facilities were great and had lots of extras that could be used and returned for those things you may have forgotten to bring. Overall a wonderful place to stay.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked A lovely little set up. First time we’ve taken our children camping and I’m so glad we chose this site. It was calm, quiet and chilled. The Area to pitch was more that big enough. The whole site was clearly well maintained and set up nicely with barked drive way, fenced and lit up pitches. Showers were very clean and a lovely little area to wash the dishes and access to other necessities that you may forget when camping. We biked off into Flint and found the mountain bike trails. We also drove into Rhyl and Talacre.
Our favourite part was buying the worms to feed the chickens in the morning and getting visits from the chickens on our pitch.
We also though this well managed and clean site was very good value for money when we were looking where to camp in comparison to others we looked at.

Disliked It wasn’t a problem but the ground was very hard so take appropriate pegs but there were also some available in the room already mentioned. But we didn’t realise until afterwards.

From the manager: Thanks for your kind comments, glad you had a great stay. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and website and hope to see you again some time when and if we are allowed to open again.. fingers crossed for our planning. PS we are putting a lot more topsoil in next week with new seed for next year to keep the drainage for the pitch... sods law its been the driest EVER season, but had it have been the wettest the drainage would have been a life saver, but hoping to get a bit more cushioning.

Safari tent

Liked Fourth time staying here. We love it. My partner had the best sleep in years in the safari tent. Beds lovely and comfy. Met some lovely people each time we have been. Brought the teenager this time as he really liked it which is hard to please any teenagers these days. Kids had fun feeding the chickens. Our George is now known as the chicken whisperer. Lovely to see the kids smiling and enjoying the outdoors. Hoping to book again. That will be our fifth time here. Everytime we come here there are nice little touches the owners have made to add to the experience. Everything you need provided and more

Disliked Can't fault this place

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked We absolutely loved our stay. Perfect size site with everything you could ever need.
I took my friends and there kids age 5,5 & 2 for their first time camping and we all had the best time.
Darren was super welcoming and spoke to us about the alpacas and chickens on the site and he was great with the kids.
Our favourite alpaca who loved his cuddles was Rooney and our favourite chicken who also loved cuddles was Margaret, the kids have not stopped going on about there whole experience.

Disliked The ground is extremely hard when pitching your own tent. Although Darren lent us hard ground pegs, which is brilliant, we couldn't get them out the ground when leaving and had to get some reinforcement to help us.
