  • Award-winning, peaceful and adults-only park
  • Overlooking the Mendip Hills; River Yeo flowing through the grounds
  • A short stroll to Cheddar village and Cheddar Gorge
How is Cheddar Bridge Touring Park gorge-ous? Let its flow of former guests count the wheys: it’s scenic, award-winning and overlooks the Mendip Hills; it’s a former Cheddar in Bloom winner for its viewsome flowers, and it has the River Yeo flowing through it – just look at those pics. If you’re a peace-loving peep, you might also brie chuffed to know that Cheddar Bridge is firmly for ages 18 and over, so no footballs should bang against your holiday home wall at six in the morning (unless your other half really can’t help it…). Once you’re nice and rested, it’s a short stroll from the site to comely Cheddar village, simply striking Cheddar Gorge and the Mendips, the limestone hills that are part of a Roman, Anglo-Saxon and Norman Ancient Monument and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (small)

Liked Such friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Perfect location for everything you need and for walking into Cheddar, also other places of interest not too far drive away. Facilities were so clean no matter what time of day we used them, and the showers were brilliant - you can control and change the temp and keep running for as long as you like unlike other campsites. We were traveling on a motorbike and getting a bit fed up of sleeping in a tent, especially with the rain, so we rented one of their pods on our third night and it was just what we needed, cosy and comfy with electric and a radiator. Would definitely recommend!

Non-electric grass tent pitch (small)

Liked A lovely site on the edge of town so good location with Sainsbury’s a ten minute walk away. The camping field is in pristine condition and there’s a small hut by the entrance with all kitchen facilities including a microwave. The showers and toilets in the other field are modern and spotless and the main reception will let you charge gadgets if you run out of juice.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked What a lovely site, situated a stones throw from the Gorge and caves, in easy reach by foot or as we did cycle, where you can find stacks of restaurants and shops.
The site it self is well maintained and has fantastic amenities, the showers and toilets are kept immaculately clean and tidy.
Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Will definitely return.

Camping pod

Liked Easy to get to and super easy to book in..the pod I was in was number 3 which was by a river but don't let that put you off as it wasn't a raging torrent more of a Brook than a river. The pod itself was clean and conventional with two plug sockets but no TV but I did take a double plug. The toilets and showers where close enough and clean and tidy, all in all a good site, great priced and quiet due to adults only.I will definitely be returning later in the year.

Disliked Not really much to dislike..if anything I had to fill the kettle from the washing room tap but I filled a two litre bottle so that was that sorted.

Local attractions

Cheddar Gorge and Caves first, of course: you could spend days in one spot just gaping at the gorge, but there’s also climbing and caving to be had, wandering around the heart-stopping stalactite caves (do stand and gawp here too), and puffing up Jacobs Ladder and to the Lookout Tower – it’s only about 300 steps to the tower top… Cheddar Bridge Touring Park is roughly halfway between the seaside at Weston-super-Mare and the tiny city of Wells for at least a couple of days’ worth of trips, with Bristol and Glastonbury also within a reasonable drive. Dive into Bath, also nearby, for Roman remains, spas and Jane Austen; the literature, arts and children’s literature festivals are well worth a look too if you’re in town at the right time. Hikers and twitchers have the Mendip Hills and the Somerset Levels to keep them occupied, with the Mendips also well known as a climbing and caving centre. Look out for peregrine falcons and marsh harriers in both areas; to find out more about snipes and other feathery sorts around these parts, the RSPB has a reserve at West Sedgemoor. Savvy shopper sort? Congratulations: Wells has a market every Saturday and Wednesday, and the biggest car boot market in the south-west is on every Sunday at Winchester Farm, only a quarter of a mile from Cheddar Bridge Touring Park: bring an extra suitcase for your goodies.
