  • Adults-only site behind a traditional pub in Nottinghamshire
  • Lincoln 20 minutes’ drive; Sherwood Forest half an hour
  • Playground in the pub garden and a fishing lake, plus riverside walks
If you’re keen to stay in the open air but don’t want to miss out on a nightly pint in a cosy local, Swan Lake Caravan Park might just be the place for you. The grass pitches at this adults-only site sit behind the White Swan pub, a traditional boozer in the Nottinghamshire village of Dunham on Trent. There are other advantages to staying here besides the proximity to the pub: the site is just off the A57 (and therefore easy to reach), plus there are bus stops nearby, and it will welcome your canine buddy. On top of that, it has its own fishing lake. Ready to explore the Nottinghamshire countryside? A 10-minute walk takes you to the Dunham Toll Bridge and the path that runs along the River Trent. Then you can walk (or cycle) south towards Fledborough Viaduct and on to Girton Lakes (a five-mile hike); or head north, towards Torksey Castle (about four miles). If you’re feeling adventurous, the Skellingthorpe Walk is a 10-mile path leading all the way into Lincoln (allow at least four hours on foot… or 20 minutes by car). The site has modern toilet and shower facilities, freshwater points and chemical waste disposal, plus an area where you can wash up after your barbecue.

What customers say

A well-kept, adult-only spot, loved for its calm vibe and generous pitches. Warden Ralph is a star – always friendly and helpful. The White Swan pub next door gets a thumbs up for food and good service. Showers/toilets are mostly clean, though some said they needed more attention when busy. Fishing’s a hit. Great value, and many want to come back!

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Level hard standing pitch with grass for awning, grass kept short, neat fenced area with friendly wardens
Fishing lake which had plenty to catch , pub with food at entrance of site, footpath close by for dog walk
Clean toilet & shower

Disliked Only 1 shower each for gents & ladies, had a bit of a wait on one morning, would benefit more for amount of pitches , some
Fishing stages could do with easier access, steep banks and a bit of maintenance on lake

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked From the minute we arrived the warden Ralph went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Nothing was too much for him, he helped pitch our awning and even took us to shops for supplies. Such a lovely gentleman. We spent only 2 nights but came away having laughed all weekend and made great new friends. We cannot wait to return. Thanks Ralph, Mrs Ralph and the lovely Rachel.

Local attractions

The attractions at Sundown Adventureland (five minutes’ drive) were built with younger visitors (under the age of 10) in mind – kids can ride a tractor or meet the characters from The Wizard of Oz on the Yellow Brick Road snaking through the forest. They'll also believe pigs can fly on the Giddy Piggies ride. Explore 3,000+ acres of parkland at National Trust - Clumber Park (25 minutes), a former ducal estate that now welcomes visitors – whether on foot or bike. Check out the Gothic chapel, pause for a picnic by the lake or in the Pleasure Grounds, or sniff out the Rose Garden, with its dozens of varieties. When in Nottinghamshire, of course you have to pay a visit to Sherwood Forest (half an hour), said to have been home to Robin Hood and his merry men. There are historical reenactments celebrating this folklore hero, or you can simply explore wooded trails, looking out for birds like woodpeckers and pipits.
