Check this out for a special setting to spend a night or few… Kings Kamp RV Park is on the island of Key Largo, a fabulous Florida location by anyone’s standards. Add in a waterfront setting on Blackwater Sound, Largo Sound a few minutes’ walk away and easy access from the Overseas Highway and you’ve got a truly excellent place to park up for a while.
And you’ll probably want to make that ‘while’ as long as possible, because there’s a lot to enjoy around here – and that starts right there on site. The nine-acre park is home to several boat docks, a boat ramp (both of these for an extra fee), a sandy beach area with lounge chairs, Tiki huts, a pavilion and a sociable firebowl area. It’s a lovely spot at any hour but perhaps at its best during the spectacular Florida Keys sunset.
Other facilities on site include a laundry room, a chemical disposal point and restrooms plus park-wide wifi and free cable TV with 75 channels to choose from. There’s a Cuban and Peruvian fusion food truck just outside the entrance, and several other food and drink outlets (including a bakery, a tiki bar, a seafood restaurant, a Japanese restaurant and other options) within a few minutes’ walk or drive.
Working up an appetite for any of these might be as simple as taking a quick swim from the beach or doing a bit of fishing from the dock, or it might involve getting out and about to explore the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park (entrance a mile away) or take a diving trip to see what lies beneath the ocean’s waves.

The campground/park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.- The park only allows dogs up to 13kg.
- No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
- Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the park while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time so that the team can provide information about your unit/site.

Nice campground with great staff and acceptable restrooms & showers.
Powered grass and gravel tent campsite
Liked Park workers were extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Restrooms and showers were good. Small beach area and docks were very nice; and with great views day and night.
Disliked No place to wash dishes. I was tent camping.

Local attractions
Key Largo is a well-known diving and snorkeling destination, so you may like to head out into the ocean with a local dive center – there are several within a few minutes’ drive. If you don’t fancy going under the surface, join a canal cruise on the African Queen (five minutes’ drive) instead.
Or just stay on land, as there’s plenty of gorgeous scenery to explore in the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park (five minutes), plus wildlife to spot at Crocodile Lake National Wildlife Refuge (five minutes) and Florida Keys Wild Bird Center (15 minutes). You may also like to walk or cycle along the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail, a 90-mile trail running to Key West.
To learn more about the area and its marine life, visit the Theater of the Sea and History of Diving Museum (both half an hour) – en route, look out for one of the area’s more unusual attractions: Toilet Seat Cut (25 minutes), a waterway decorated with more than 250 toilet seats.
