- Tree-filled Ardèche site on the banks of the Chassezac river
- Bois de Païolive 10 minutes' drive; Grotte de la Cocalière 20 minutes
- Restaurant on site; river access for swimming and fishing
Ready for a relaxing riverside break? Book a stay at Camping Le Vieux Moulin – this Ardèche site is right on the banks of the Chassezac river in Casteljau, with access to the water for fishing, paddling and swimming when you need to cool off.
On the border of the Cévennes National Park and Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park, this is a gorgeous spot for an outdoor holiday, with all sorts of activities close by – including hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, horse riding and canyoning – and a good list of attractions including châteaux, caves and traditional villages on the list of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France.
In between all those outings, you’ll be able to chill out in the shade of the trees on site or site quietly and look out over the river. Later on, pick up supplies from the local grocery store (100 metres away) and cook dinner at the barbecue area, or take a table on the restaurant’s covered terrace for a meal made up of local produce.
Groups, families, couples and solo travellers are all welcome here – as are well-behaved dogs. As a nature-forward site, there aren’t loads of entertainments on offer here, but there is a play area for the kids, and you’ll have a good list of practical facilities including wifi, a washing-up area and bathrooms with baby-changing facilities and access for less mobile guests. Solar panels, recycling facilities and eco-friendly cleaning products are all in place to lessen the impact on the environment.
