Tucking into a local breakfast before lounging by the poolside or driving a short distance to take a rowboat out on the canals? If that gets a resounding ‘yes’ from you, you should very much like La Jolie Longère Fleurie. Set within the Regional Natural Park of the Marais Poitevin, an area often referred to as ‘the green Venice’, it is a short drive from marshes, canals and forests, and half an hour’s drive from the Atlantic Coast.
Every morning, a breakfast tray is delivered to your accommodation with a tasty portion of local products. For more of that, try the restaurants of La Rochelle. This city is just half an hour’s drive away from the site, and has delicious seafood restaurants, half-timbered medieval houses, Renaissance architecture and a long maritime tradition (hence the seafood like oysters…).
When you’re not spending your downtime in the streets of La Rochelle or on the sandy seafront at Châtelaillon-Plage (half an hour’s drive away from the site), settle in at the shared spaces at La Jolie Longère Fleurie. An outdoor swimming pool is on hand for lazy afternoons, along with a large, pretty flower garden. There is also badminton, chess, yoga, books, hammocks, board games and pétanque should you fancy something that's more challenging for the brain.
All of the accommodations are thoughtfully designed for your leisure time as well as any day-to-day needs. Each unit has its own personality and includes a proper bathroom, a terrace and a parking space.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.- The campground/park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.
- The outdoor swimming pool is open between 04/01 and 10/31 (subject to weather conditions).
- Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.
- If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.
- Breakfast is included. It includes a fresh fruit juice, a hot drink of your choice, brioche, bread, egg of your choice, cheese, butter, jam and/or honey. Must be ordered the day before using the sheet available in each room. It will be brought either to the room or under the arbor, at the requested time (between 8:30am and 10:30am).

Local attractions
There are so many things to get stuck into in Rochefort (35 minutes’ drive) that you may want to jot them all down and cross them off one by one, so you don't miss any. There are marine and naval aviation museums, to start with, or the gorgeous Théâtre de la Coupe d'Or should you fancy an evening show. Tour the home of writer Pierre Loti too.
For a seaside day out, Île de Ré (45 minutes) should be at the top of your list. This gorgeous island is very popular with holidaying Parisians and has gorgeous sandy beaches along with 100 kilometres of mostly flat cycling paths passing by vineyards, pine forests and beaches. Beach hopping by bicycle is very much on the menu here.
Perhaps you might want to take a laidback afternoon to unwind in Surgères (15 minutes), which has Roman-style churches and a castle. To add a couple more castles to your itinerary, head to Château de Buzay (25 minutes) and Chateau de la Roche Courbon (50 minutes) too.
Finally, Fouras (40 minutes) is a nice finish to any itinerary, with its pretty seaside and its ferries to Aix Island.
