- Peaceful site at 1200 metres altitude in the Pyrénées National Park
- Direct access to hikes and a 15-minute drive from Gavarnie
- Snack bar, shop and wellness area with a hot tub and sauna on site
Taking yourself away to the Pyrénées National Park to traverse mountain trails or unwind in traditional mountain towns? Stay at Camping Les Tilleuls and you’ll also get to admire the Hautes-Pyrénées countryside and the mountainous skyline.
At an altitude of 1200 metres, this dog-friendly site has plenty of shade from trees and direct access to hikes in the national park. It has a modern amenities block with showers and toilets, along with a wellness area with a sauna trailer and a hot tub for some recovery time after your outings.
The site is only a 15-minute drive from Gavarnie and 25 minutes from Cirque de Gavarnie, a cirque with 1,500-metre-high walls and a 422-metre tiered waterfall (Gavarnie Falls, the highest waterfall in mainland France).
With so many trails in the area, you should have successfully worked up an appetite for the ice cream, charcuterie boards and pizzas that are sold back at Camping Les Tilleuls. The site also serves breakfasts, helping you fill up before hitting the trails, and it has a shop selling local produce if you want to pick up some snacks for the day.
In Gavarnie, stop by the supermarket, shops or restaurants to grab souvenirs or more things to fill the stomach. The site is half an hour’s walk away from Gèdre, where there are shops selling local produce and restaurants, along with a swimming pool, ice rink, climbing centre and tourist office.
To tour on two wheels, rent bicycles in Luz-Saint-Sauveur, 20 minutes’ drive away. If it’s a Monday morning, you could stop by the market. Otherwise, there’s a grocery shop for refreshments.
