  • Peaceful woodland park 15 minutes' walk from Forges-les-Eaux
  • A 45-minute drive from Rouen and Dieppe
  • Playground, pétanque court, bike hire and high-season outdoor pool
Looking for that relaxing rural vibe, but not really willing to give up the convenience of urban amenities? Camping La Minière has both aspects sorted: this peaceful wooded site has plenty of quiet space to chill out, yet is only a 15-minute stroll from the centre of Forges-les-Eaux for easy access to a supermarket, a train station and restaurants. Active types can while away hours on site with games of pétanque or table tennis; those whose getaways favour sitting down can borrow books and board games or use the communal barbecues and picnic tables to set out an alfresco feast while les enfants mess about at the playground. When you find yourself with extra downtime, make your way to the swimming pool (open from mid-June to mid-September) too. If you fancy a bit of local pottering, you can hire bikes to pedal along forest paths or hit the 18-kilometre Avenue Verte that starts from Forges-les-Eaux. Venturing further afield, a half-hour drive will take you to castles, gardens and adventure parks dotted around the countryside, while 45 minutes or so in the car can have you wandering through historic Rouen or paddling on the beaches around Dieppe.

Liked Not liked

Disliked We emailed ahead as we were estimating a later arrival than planned and were met with a blunt response advising reception closes at 7.00pm. Arrival was delayed even later due to experiencing a puncture and traffic congestion. We went to campsite really late - just before 10.00pm in the hope that the site may have allowed us in to erect our tent to be met at the gate by one of the owners(?) who refused us entry. Our fault for being late but entirely no customer service here or even any flexibility. We had to resort to sleeping in our car in a layby.

A good site overall and it is evidence improvements are ongoing.

10-amp powered grass campsite

Liked Very generous sized pitch with hedges on 3 sides for privacy. Unisex toilets and showers were clean and functional but in need of updating. Wifi available but only by reception- has an outsdide seating area. Pool newly opened and very nice - was given a wrist band to wear. Rear access off site to walk into town- had a lovely Boulangerie.

Disliked More of an observation, If campsite was busy there wasnt enough toilets and showers for amount of pitches, only 3 toilets.

Our 3rd stay here in just over a year, so must be good!

10-amp powered grass campsite

Liked The site is clean and tidy with nice size pitches. A very relaxed and calm atmosphere. Nikolas and staff work very hard to keep things nice and are very helpful. It is near to the town which has plenty of shops. Two supermarkets, one about 3/4 mile away (if that) and a larger one next to a McDonalds approx 1.5 miles away depending on which way you go. Coffee shop in town (La P’tite Sophie), Charcuterie (Yves and Evelyn) and Boulangerie Patisserie Jacques highly highly recommended.

Disliked Need to take own loo roll to the toilet but this isn’t a problem unless you forget!!

Liked Einwirklich sehr schöner Platz mit grossen Stellplätzen . Der Chef ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit . Der Platz ist sehr günstig !
Über den Platz direkter Zugang zur Kirche / Ortsmitte . Wie ein riesiger Park .
Vor Ort sind gute Restaurants !
Wir kommen gerne wieder !

Disliked Eigentlich nichts negatives . Die Sanitäreinrichtungen entsprechen den 2 Sternen . Sind allerdings sehr sauber .

Primitive grass tent campsite (backpacker)

Liked Nice campsite, great people, well kept, near a nice town. Supper in sight was delicious..,

Disliked Was a little noisy as I was placed by the road but not too bad ( residential area)

Perhaps once all the work is completed this will be a great site.

10-amp powered grass campsite

Liked Good size pitch. The owner was helpful.

Disliked The owner obviously had a lot of work to do on the site. He is busy building a swimming pool. However probably due to that the main shower block needed work. Tiles off the wall, and generally looking a bit shabby. Grass needed cut.
It said free WIFI but you only get this within 30m of reception.

10-amp powered grass campsite

Liked Lovely location and nicely laid out campsite with easy access to Forges-les-Eaux town. There is lovely walking round a nearby lake and also cycle routes close to the site.

Disliked Facilities are basic but adequate and Wi-Fi is only available next to the reception office.

A well run site in a lovely area of France.

Local attractions

Start your Normandy break with a wander around Forges-les-Eaux itself, poking around in the market and learning about the town’s wartime role at the Resistance Museum. A walk or bike ride on the Avenue Verte is highly recommended to see some of the scenic surrounds, as is a soak in the thermal waters of the local spa upon your return to town. If you like to peruse a château or two, take the half-hour drive to Château de Fleury-la-Forêt (home to a splendid doll museum), or wander through the gardens at Chateau de Vascoeuil to spot the sculptures scattered around the estate. More historic visits can be had in Rouen, 45 minutes’ drive away – take in the Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramic Museum, see the cathedral that inspired Monet or just potter through the restored medieval streets, looking up at the half-timbered houses. Also within half an hour’s drive are the Rêve de Bisons animal park, the gorgeous Le Jardin Plume and the treetop trails at Arbr’en Ciel adventure park.
