  • Dog-friendly site under a mile from the southern shore of Loch Lomond
  • A five-minute drive to the John Muir Way; 10 minutes from Balloch
  • Restaurants and shops 10 minutes’ drive away; walk to a nature reserve
If Loch Lomond is in your near future, no need to look any further for a relaxing, dog-friendly site on its southern shores. Under a mile from the loch’s shores and 10 minutes’ drive away from Balloch, the well-presented Lagganbeg Caravan Park prides itself on its peaceful vibes and top location in the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Birdwatchers, gather. The site is a short 15 minutes’ walk away from RSPB Scotland Loch Lomond, where you might spot an osprey or white-tailed sea eagle over the water. Hikers, arm yourself with a trusty pair of walking shoes too. The site is around five minutes’ drive away from the 134-mile John Muir Way from Helensburgh to Dunbar. You’ll have your pick of a host of hiking and cycling trails suitable for all abilities in the local area too, including the likes of the West Loch Lomond Cycle Path and the National Cycle Route 7. A lighter 20-minute stroll is all it takes to get to the shore of Scotland's largest freshwater loch. Ogle over the surrounding munros for a while or take a gander at nearby Balloch (10 minutes’ drive) or Drymen (10 minutes), where there are restaurants and shops. Cities like Stirling (40 minutes) and Glasgow (50 minutes) are only a day trip away, as is Argyll and Bute. Plus, there are handy bus and train services from Balloch and Stirling. Lagganbeg Caravan Park is a family-run site, so it’s been very lovingly tended to facilities-wise. The toilet and shower block has rainfall showers and a family wet room, which is accessible for disabled guests. There’s also a laundry room with large-capacity washers, dryers and irons, all coin-operated, and hand-washing sinks and an indoor drying area.

Power optional grass tent campsite

Liked: staff were very helpful

Disliked: the web site said parking at pitch but the ssite said it wasnt the case. also the noie of folk talking after midnight was annoying when child and wife couldnt sleep. also web site says fires allowed off the ground. site has a big sign saying no fires. so not sure what rules applied and what rules didnt.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. I would like to address your complaints - You stated that we say on Pitchup that parking is on your tent pitch however we clearly state that there is no parking on your pitch in our information. We do however say that parking is in the car park adjacent to the camping field which at most is 100m away from your tent. you also get to choose your own area for your tent therefore you can park as close to your car or as far away as you choose.
You also said that you had a noise complaint. Did you report this? The out of hours contact number is cleaarly displayed on the door at reception. Unfortunately we can't stay in reception 24 hours a day, but we do live on site so this could have been dealt with in a timeous manner if reported. We do have signs up stating fires, this encourages people to ask what is permitted. We permit BBQ's, fire pits etc as long as they are not placed directly on the ground which is a hazard and damages the grass. Had you asked a member of our helpful staff they would have been happy to advise and help you with all these issues.

I’d happily recommend to touring campers.

Tall Pines powered gravel RV campsite

Liked: Shower and toilet block well equipped and modern. Friendly and helpful management team. Great location for Loch Lomond. Level pitch.

Disliked: Site needs some attention to detail - lots of litter on and around our pitch. Toilet seats needed tightening. Perhaps remove manufacturers’ sticky labels on sinks/toilets. Give toiletry holders in showers a decent scrub. Planters could have used some tidying. Passage between office and toilets used as dumping ground. Decking areas would have benefited from a sweep. Nothing that affected our stay directly but make a difference to general impression and could be improved fairly easily.

Conic View powered cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked: Sehr gute Lage, freundliches Personal, ruhiger Platz

From the manager: Thank you for your review. I would like to address a couple of the comments you left. The toilets and showers are cleaned twice a day and checked numerous times in between the cleanings. If you had a complaint or issue with the cleanliness you should have reported this to Reception and 1 of the team would have addressed the issue. There is sometimes grass tracked into the toilet blocks from customers feet which if they are camping is unavoidable, we do however have signs at every shower asking customers not to wear outdoor shoes into the shower cubicles to avoid them becoming dirty. Sadly some customers do not abide by this but again if there was an issue it could have been solved had it been reported. We clearly state that we are a rural and quiet park and that the closest shop is in our village just under 1 mile away and that larger shops and reataurants are 3 miles. These can be reached by car, public bus, taxi, cycle or walking. I really would recommend fully reading the information/description on the park you are booking to avoid the disappointment of misbooking in the future.

Excellent site next to RSPB Loch Lomond reserve.

Power optional grass tent campsite

Liked: Good camping field for tents near facilities.
I got there early enough to pitch near my car and in a quiet corner of the field.
Very clean showers and toilets. Staff really helpful. Good WiFi. Small shop.
I really loved the location about 5 minutes walk to RSPB Loch Lomond reserve. Great for an evening walk to watch birds and see the sunset.

Local attractions

This is a central base indeed… set your sights on historic Stirling (40 minutes’ drive), a city with historic credentials like a castle, The National Wallace Monument and The Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre (45 minutes). The latter is based on a medieval battle location, which some of you might recognise from the film Braveheart. Of course, Glasgow (50 minutes) has more historic attractions, especially museums and impressive architecture. There are shops and theatres for those seeking a simpler kind of entertainment. Those who haven’t already tasted enough whisky in the city bars can pay a visit to the Glengoyne Distillery (20 minutes), which runs tours and tastings (including of their tasty single malt whisky). Perhaps you’re an animal fan too. There are 300-plus creatures at the Blair Drummond Safari Park (35 minutes), including giraffes and lions, and hands-on activities with the farm animals at Briarlands Farm (35 minutes).
