  • Dog-friendly site under a mile from the southern shore of Loch Lomond
  • A five-minute drive to the John Muir Way; 10 minutes from Balloch
  • Restaurants and shops 10 minutes’ drive away; walk to a nature reserve
If Loch Lomond is in your near future, no need to look any further for a relaxing, dog-friendly site on its southern shores. Under a mile from the loch’s shores and 10 minutes’ drive away from Balloch, the well-presented Lagganbeg Caravan Park prides itself on its peaceful vibes and top location in the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Birdwatchers, gather. The site is a short 15 minutes’ walk away from RSPB Scotland Loch Lomond, where you might spot an osprey or white-tailed sea eagle over the water. Hikers, arm yourself with a trusty pair of walking shoes too. The site is around five minutes’ drive away from the 134-mile John Muir Way from Helensburgh to Dunbar. You’ll have your pick of a host of hiking and cycling trails suitable for all abilities in the local area too, including the likes of the West Loch Lomond Cycle Path and the National Cycle Route 7. A lighter 20-minute stroll is all it takes to get to the shore of Scotland's largest freshwater loch. Ogle over the surrounding munros for a while or take a gander at nearby Balloch (10 minutes’ drive) or Drymen (10 minutes), where there are restaurants and shops. Cities like Stirling (40 minutes) and Glasgow (50 minutes) are only a day trip away, as is Argyll and Bute. Plus, there are handy bus and train services from Balloch and Stirling. Lagganbeg Caravan Park is a family-run site, so it’s been very lovingly tended to facilities-wise. The toilet and shower block has rainfall showers and a family wet room, which is accessible for disabled guests. There’s also a laundry room with large-capacity washers, dryers and irons, all coin-operated, and hand-washing sinks and an indoor drying area.

Conic View powered cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked De camperplaatsen zijn goed verhard met gras ernaast. En liggen rondom. Schone toiletten en douches. Met een bankje bij de douches om spullen droog weg te zetten. En een fantastische regendouche uit het plafond. Heerlijke warm. Aardige mensen bij de receptie.

Disliked Wi-Fi signal only in nearest proximity to the reception.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. As explained to you on arrival we had an issue with the WiFi and we were awiting the engineers fixing it. This was caused by someone reversing their motorhome into the transmitter box and damaging it beyond repair. We did apologise for this but it was outwith our control and you could still get WiFi if you came the few meters to the camping field to pick up the signal from there. The engineers have been on site yesterday and today fixing the damage.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. As we explained when you were on site one of the wifi antennas has been damaged, this was caused by a customer reversing into the antena pole in the area you were in. We are awaiting the engineer coming to replace the damaged equipment. We hope this will help fixed soon.

Power optional grass tent campsite

Liked My partner and I are new to camping and so far we have had two three night camping trips both at this location. The first was with friends borrowing their equipment to see how we got on, and the second was with our own tent and kit and were going to book again in September with out nephew and his mum. We wanted somewhere we could put our new tent up without any pressure and figure things out in our own time.

We love it here, its so quiet and peaceful. Far enough away to feel ike your away from home, but close enough to civilisation to pick up a few bits, have a meal and a drink if you fancy it.

The staff are lovely, explained what was what when we checked in and gave us the WiFi details and said to just pop into reception if we needed anything. We were told to just pick a spot on the grass which was fine by us. Others arrived and did the same, tents were sensibly spaced out. Other campers were friendly offering people help if they were struggling and we had zero issues at all.

Night time came and people respected the 10pm quiet time and we had a really good night's sleep.

We used the little shop (which has everything you could need if you forget something) for some drinks and chocolate bars which I expected to be quite expensive, but I was really surprised when it wasnt, really fairly priced and cheaper than my local corner shop.

The facilities are brilliant and very clean and tidy. Male and female toilet black and showers constantly spotless. Theres a little laundry room if you need it with washing machine and tumble dryer and iron all coin operated and a washing up area to do the dishes in which is neat and tidy.

We would recommend this site to anyone and it's our goto site if we fancy a quick break.

Disliked There is no place for charging the phone and hot water
Many camp sites at least provide some sockets and kettles.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We do provide a charging service in reception during opening hours, this also ensures the security of your devices. This would have been provided had you asked. We don't provide kettles as this would be a health and safety issue, especially where there are young children who might access them without supervision. This usually isn't an issue as most Campers have basic equipment like a stove and stove top kettle so they can be self sufficient which is what Campers usually expect

Local attractions

This is a central base indeed… set your sights on historic Stirling (40 minutes’ drive), a city with historic credentials like a castle, The National Wallace Monument and The Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre (45 minutes). The latter is based on a medieval battle location, which some of you might recognise from the film Braveheart. Of course, Glasgow (50 minutes) has more historic attractions, especially museums and impressive architecture. There are shops and theatres for those seeking a simpler kind of entertainment. Those who haven’t already tasted enough whisky in the city bars can pay a visit to the Glengoyne Distillery (20 minutes), which runs tours and tastings (including of their tasty single malt whisky). Perhaps you’re an animal fan too. There are 300-plus creatures at the Blair Drummond Safari Park (35 minutes), including giraffes and lions, and hands-on activities with the farm animals at Briarlands Farm (35 minutes).
