  • Luxury Dorset resort set in secluded lakeside woodland
  • A 15-minute drive to the New Forest, 25 to Bournemouth and 35 to Poole
  • Pool, hot tub and outside terrace bar
Rivendell Park has a mix of forest and open space set over seven acres for accommodation and activities, and everyone has access to the hot tub and swimming pool open in high season. If swimming and fresh air stoke up your appetite, head to the barbecue area to cook over coals or use your own gas cooker. The terrace bar is also available for refreshments to keep the family cool on a hot day. This site is also an oasis for wildlife – keep a beady eye out for roe deer, foxes and rabbits flitting about in the surrounds. And if you’d like to do your own scampering, the resort is within 15 minutes' drive of the New Forest and 30 to 35 minutes from the seaside towns of Poole and Bournemouth. Excellently kept amenities (the attention to detail really does reach every nook and cranny here) are also a highlight of this park, including washrooms and showers with toiletries provided.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: We loved the owner the site was spotless great facilities my daughter loved the pool. This is a great camp/glamp site

Disliked: More fire pits needed one per pitch.
I also think you could have a more expansive shop. WiFi didn’t work and signal poor in the area

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Friendly and helpful staff / owners. The tent pitch was good and even and the children were able to roam about the campsite safely.

The showers and toilets were exceptionally clean, good hot showers too!

Disliked: Would ideally like a bit more space between pitches but that’s just personal choice.

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked: Lots of places for the kids to explore in the woods, no cars on the site and fresh made pizza on the Friday.

Quiet location and easy to get to various (beach, monkey world, country park).

Communal fridge and freezer

Disliked: Small bench in the showers would be good to put things on as some things couldn’t easily be hung up (glasses for example).

Bin by the washing up area.

A regular clearance of the communal fridge. I emptied mouldy food and milk and gave some spillages a wipe down

Local attractions

Just over half an hour's drive away, Poole has plenty to offer day-trippers with its sandy beaches, handsome old town and harbour area; it's also the departure point for boat trips out to Brownsea Island, a wooded sanctuary teeming with wildlife. If this gives you a taste for seafaring, take a cruise along the Jurassic Coast (or even a ferry to Jersey). Those after bigger thrills in the water should aim for Splashdown waterpark (30 minutes' drive), which has pools and over a dozen indoor and outdoor flumes and rides. There's more of that inland at Dorset Waterpark near Corfe Castle (45 minutes), and who could go near Corfe without going round the very fine old castle too? For more ancient history, the isle of Purbeck (an hour) is fab for fossil hunters and the famed monument of Stonehenge is 45 minutes from the site. For petrolheads, the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu (45 minutes) has a collection of classic vehicles to gaze on enviously before you get back in your own. This is fine road trip country as well, with attractive old market towns like Wimborne Minster and stately homes such as Kingston Lacy within 20 minutes.
