Beautifully kept, peaceful campsite with spacious, private sites and spectacular views. Owners are very friendly & helpful. Guests loved animal encounters, especially feeding pigs, and the well-stocked shop. Facilities are clean but basic; some noted road noise & free-roaming chickens.

Primitive grass tent campsite (backpacker, no cars)
Liked Amazing location, very handy on site shop- if your cycling or hiking don't worry about a detour for food / disposable BBQ they can sort you for an evening. Washing, phone charging showers etc all their and a view to die for. Would definitely return or recommend to friends and family.

A fabulous find.
Primitive grass campsite (secluded)
Liked Loved the site. Secluded pitch was fab. I particularly liked the hosts who told me some funny tales. It’s a large site with an enclosed dog field. Toilets and showers. I can’t wait to visit again. We even had 4 chickens come to say hello in the morning.
Disliked Nothing. Apart from I couldn’t stay longer.

Primitive grass tent campsite (backpacker, no cars)
Liked Great little site with amazing views
Would I stay again? Yes. Would I recommend it to friends and family? Definitely.
The Old Rectory has one of the best views I’ve found at any UK campsite – it sits on a ridge looking out across several valleys, and it’s stunning. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, very different from bigger, noisier sites.
For cycle tourers and hikers: it’s on a hill, but worth the climb. There’s a small but very well-thought-out shop that means you don’t need to detour for supplies, and the site has a good eco-friendly ethos. Facilities are good – showers, a fridge, charging points, and a place to wash clothes – everything you actually need without fuss.
The owners are clearly putting a lot into making the site work well, and it shows.

Power optional grass campsite
Liked A lovely stay at the old rectory. A peaceful site close to beautiful Tavistock. Helpful friendly owners who gave us great recommendations, and a lovely vibe at the campsite. Our kids fed the pigs and even had an archery lesson with Declan. A really special experience. The kids also enjoyed the visits from the chickens, Charlotte and Michelle.
