Hardstanding campervan pitch

Pitch overlooking the devon countryside

  • Award-winning 80-acre site two miles from the beach
  • Pools, pub, fish and chip shop, sauna, steam room and gym
  • Five private fishing lakes, woodland adventure zone and nature trails
Anyone who relishes a bit of variety on their holidays should give this award-winning site serious consideration: there are buckets and spades of activities for all ages, both on site and in the immediate vicinity. Tucked into a valley, only a mile away from swathes of Blue Flag beaches, and a 10-minute drive from Dawlish Warren, Cofton Holidays has 80 acres of meadows, orchards and woodland laced with nature trails for visitors to explore. The facilities here will keep the whole family happily entertained for weeks: Cofton's indoor pool has massage jets and hydrotherapy bubble loungers, as well as a sauna, steam room and gym (a small additional charge applies), and there's a splash area with water jets to entertain the kids. Or set off angling instead at one of the five private fishing lakes, to bag a monster carp (24-pounders aren't unknown here). More? Kids can bounce around in the three dedicated play areas or explore the adventure zone in the woods, with activities such as pond dipping and bug hunting laid on in season; if it’s raining, there’s also a games room with amusements and a pool table. After these exertions, retire to the poolside patio of the Swan Inn for a refresher and a snack: the pub opens every night and serves up a good range of grub (breakfast and lunch are also available at weekends), plus regular entertainment including live bands, discos and karaoke in high season. Cofton also has its own fish and chip joint, as well as a shop for any vittles you might need. Wifi across the whole site (charges apply) means staying connected is simple, and it’s also worth mentioning that Cofton has excellent facilities for disabled visitors.

Liked Lovely site , lots to do , great toilets . Kept really clean and tidy . Loved watching the bunnies in the evening. Loved the fact there was mops to keep the showers clean and tidy before the staff got there and the added bonus of free hairdryers. You also got to chose your pitch which I liked.

Disliked My only grudge is I had to signal the whole weekend . You Pay for the WiFi but then you pay for your contract. I had great signal at the top of the site but nothing where our tent was. I think that was probably a me problem with my phone , but next time I’d make sure we chose a pitch with good signal. My partner however was fine.

Liked The whole place is absolutely beautiful. Facilities are spotlessly clean, the on site shop is very well stocked with everything you need and fairly priced. The pitches are a really good size. There's so many things to do on site for the whole family, our kids absolutely loved the pump track and outdoor pool they were well entertained the whole time. We ended up booking an extra night and didn't want to leave. The staff were amazing, especially Paul at the arcade such a friendly guy and brilliant with us the kids. We met so many lovely people and can't wait to come back!

7.5 metre power optional gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Great site, friendly helpful staff, lots to do, good shower blocks, nice bar, lots of places to walk and cycle to.

Disliked The side we camped on by fishing lake had no drive over area to dispose of grey waste so had to que over other side of site causing a bit of a buildup of traffic, also a sign directing where to dispose of chemical waste may help as lots of people wandering around looking!

Liked Good spacious pitches, spotlessly clean toilets and showers and lots of them available. Good amenities on site - shop, laundrette, chip shop, plenty of toilet/shower blocks, good pub and club house. Lots of entertainment and plenty to do on site especially for young families. Great location to explore local towns and attractions

Disliked The electric was misleading, I received an email to register an account in order to get electric on site, I registered and topped up the account but was then told after that I didn’t need it on electric grass pitches and waited 5 days for the money to be refunded so that could of been mentioned at check in or made more clear in the email due to the pitch I had booked

Liked Stayed at Crofton for just one night, and it was honestly such a nice little getaway.
The tent pitch was clean, spacious, and easy to set up with everything close by—showers, toilets, and washing-up areas, all kept tidy.

Even though I was only there for a short time, we got to enjoy the heated indoor pool, grab a bite at the Swan Pub and take in the peaceful surroundings.

The atmosphere was super relaxing and the staff were friendly too!

Would definitely come back—next time for a longer stay!

Liked The site is well planned out. Very clean and well kept. The shop was excellent for those things you need and may have forgotten. The staff were great and very helpful. The entertainment for all ages was great.

Disliked The only thing I could think of to say on a negative is that the toilets are closed for cleaning when you want to shower, maybe if they could be cleaned in the afternoon when everyone is out and about.

Local attractions

Wandering just outside the site, the nearby clifftops have pretty walks; there are gentle bike rides around and about; plus beaches and waterways offering more sail-, paddle- and wave-powered action than you can shake a stick at.
