  • Small, multi-award-winning and peaceful site in a secluded valley
  • Putsborough beach and Croyde village centre both 15 minutes' walk
  • Immaculate amenities; campfires allowed; pubs within walking distance
If you haven't been to the beach at Woolacombe yet… why ever not? These stunning and award-winning sands have been hailed as the best in all of Britain and among the top in Europe (sometimes even on the entire planet): you'll see why the second you get there… Glimpses of this spectacular stretch of sand can be had from Combas Farm, a family-run site in a secluded valley within sauntering distance of Croyde village. Guests have been returning here for years for the spectacular and handy north Devon setting, as well the warm vibe that owners Gwen and Sally and their team have created: the words 'friendly' and 'helpful' crop up time and again in guests' reviews. Most folk also mightily appreciate the spotlessly kept and modern amenities on the farm too, set in a converted barn and including powerful hot showers, immaculate toilets, a washing-up area and sockets for gadget charging. Camping is in four fields – one with those stunning views over Woolacombe Bay and the others closer to the swish facilities. A half-mile trot along a farm track leads to the shops and pubs of Croyde village; the site is also about a 15-minute stroll from Putsborough beach. Firepits and barbecues are allowed: pick up all you could need for either of these in Braunton, 15 minutes' drive away. Several pubs and restaurants are also within walking distance.

Liked What an absolute gem of a location this is!
Only a few minutes walk into Croyde village in one direction and to Putsborough beach in the other.
Lovely spacious pitches with fantastic views, spotlessly clean facilities whatever time of day you visited them and lovely friendly and helpful staff.
Can’t wait to come back again!

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great campsite!🤗 We only stayed for 2 nights but had a great time. Friendly staff, lovely farm location and walking distance to the town and beach. Very clean and well looked after facilities that were easy to access from our tent site. Bit of a scary narrow road to get there by car but once you are there there is there is no need to drive anywhere so it’s not to bad. Will definitely be back for a visit in the future!🤗

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked The ease of everything… my kids felt very safe too. Lovely welcome by all staff.

Great to have use of fridges and things like nice washing up liquid etc…

Extremely clean facilities and nice touches- best ever seen at a campsite!

Bonus of being able to buy fresh milk/ milkshakes and fresh gorgeous cinnamon buns - all very tasty… ( a little visiting coffee van would be the cherry on the cake😀!)

Stunning view at top fields - not sure how you book these pitches at the top but would definitely ask next time…

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciated the little extras, can't promise a coffee van but it is something we have considered!

Look forward to seeing you again sometime.

Thanks

Sally

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Big pitch and great views. The only campsite we have been to where there has been no loud music or disruptive late night parties (worth extra just for that!).
Lovely clean, hot showers and drying for the wetsuits. Friendly owner with a warm welcome.

Disliked Several dog owners who kept letting them off the lead in the camping fields rather than bothering to take them to the dog field provided.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review, apologies about the dogs, we do request they are on leads at all times apart from the dog walking areas.
Hope to see you again sometime in the future.

Jason T.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely quiet rural location, with lots of space on each pitch. The toilet, shower and washing up facilities were great and nice and clean.

Disliked Pitches were on a bit of a slope. Be aware that depending on which field you are in it can be quite a walk to the main toilet and shower block and washing up facilities, although there are very good compost toilets dotted around the site.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review Jason, I am pleased you liked the location here, hopefully if you visit us again we will be able to give you a leveller pitch closer to the facilities.

Thanks

Sally

Katie R.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Fabulous campsite, if fact one of the best we’ve stayed at and we camp a lot!
If you like non-commercialised quiet campsites in the lovely countryside with great clean facilities then this is the campsite for you! The toilets and showers were spotless, great compost toilets also - best we’ve used! Loved the option of indoor and outdoor washing up facilities, with the added bonus in the washing up area of an electric kettle! Also a microwave, fridges and freezer for use for everyone, and an inside area to hang wetsuits. Lovely short/15 min walk to Croyde bay and Putsborough and we drove (15mins) to Woolacombe. I visited with my 2 children and had a lovely time.
Great communication from Sally once I’d booked. You can see all your work hard here to keep this campsite to a high standard, thank you!

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

The nearest beach is Putsborough Sands, at one end of Woolacombe Bay. It's generally a quieter spot than the rest of Woolacombe beach and is just one of the north Devon surfing destinations near the farm. Surf's also up at Saunton Sands, 20 minutes' drive from the farm, and at Croyde and Westward Ho! as well as the main Devon surf spots of Woolacombe and Ilfracombe. The spectacular South West Coast Path is also a must if you're anywhere around the shoreline of England's south west: join it at Croyde for the five-mile stretch to Woolacombe past the National Trust's fably-named Baggy Point, or hike a hefty 15 miles to go further south on the route from Woolacombe to Braunton. Another scenic option for walking – and cycling – is the Tarka Trail, the looping paths following the route of Henry Williamson's fictional otter. This one's accessible from Woolacombe too, but the most popular part is probably the car-free 31 miles between Meeth and Braunton: drop into the Museum of British Surfing at Braunton for the story of south-west surf if you have energy afterwards. More walks? Exmoor National Park is within 40 minutes' drive.
