Forestry behind the site
Level-grounded site
Hardstanding pitch

  • Large level-grounded working farm site in the Devon countryside
  • A 10-minute drive from Roadford Lake; opposite a forest with trails
  • On-site farm shop selling fresh and local food; country pubs nearby
Your adventurous side may very well rear its head once you touch down at Evergreen Farm in the Devon countryside. This large level-grounded site is in a rural patch opposite a forest, 10 minutes’ drive from the watersports haven at Roadford Lake and 35 minutes from Bude’s beaches and Dartmoor National Park. Fancy like some fresh produce to start off your day? Well, you won’t need to stray far, as there’s a farm shop on site selling free-range eggs and locally produced meats. This is the place to get your hands on a hot brew and a savoury or sweet treat, as there’s a selection of pies, pasties, sausage rolls, cakes and hot food available daily – plus local ice cream, cream teas and cups of tea and coffee. Once you’ve got all that energy in your veins, it may seem natural that the large forest opposite the site is next on your to-do list. Packed with wildlife and plenty of opportunities for kids (or adults) to let off steam, there are trails for walking and cycling and places to mash together a den. When you’re looking to stock up on your supplies, there are gas bottles available on site and local shops within four miles of the site. Holsworthy, Okehampton and Trethorne Leisure Park are all under 25 minutes’ drive away from the site, so you’ll be well within reach of leisure centres and golf courses too. And when you’ve got more food on the brain, there are several traditional country pubs serving food within 10 minutes’ drive of the site.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Easy to find.
Simple, no frills.
Level pitch.
Clean facilities.
Plenty hot water.
Bats and balls provided.
Friendly owners.
Meat from the farm shop.
Great location.
Quiet spot.

We had a lovely week here and can't fault the site at all. We had glorious weather which was a bonus.
The site is a big field with pitches around the edges. Each pitch is close to water and hook up. The unisex shower block has several toilet cubicles and two shower cubicles with plenty of hot water. I never saw a cleaner but they were defintely cleaned every day!
There is one washing up station but despite the site being quite busy, nobody had to queue whilst we were there.
There is no play area but there is a net and badminton set plus football goal and balls available to use. We used them quite a bit!
The shop on site is quite limited but has enough to get you by until you can make it to a bigger shop. We bought burgers here and they were the best we've ever had. Delicious. Peter and Emma were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. It was lovely to hear the farm animals and the owls during our stay. The Ashwater Village Shop was a little delight, we didn't venture out to any local pubs but Karen's Takeaway fish and chips were absolutely spot on....we even tried a battered Mars Bar!
The Witherdon Wood is opposite the site and superb for a blast on the mountain bike or an after dinner stroll.
Sunset here was pretty spectacular.
The waste disposal is currently into an IBC which was ok but not ideal, being at face height! Peter said there are plans to get something more permanent in place in the future.
Would definitely recommend and I hope we come here again.

Disliked The pot holes on the lane and the traffic on the way home!!!! I know this isn't anything to do with the site!

Powered grass campsite

Liked Great, flat pitch with electricity and water very close by. Easy access to the site from a quiet road. Although quite busy, the site was very quiet at night. Peter and Emma, the owners, were very friendly and helpful but also hands off ( in a good way!) . We will certainly be back when we are in the area again.

Liked We had a lovely stay at Evergreen. Pitches are nice and flat, very quiet site. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Peter and Emma were really lovely and helpful. It is a small site but there is enough room in the middle of the field to kick a ball about or play badminton. And there are woodlands opposite with walks. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
No wifi but i had good phone signal. And who wants that when you’re camping anyway!

Local attractions

So, you’ve got a thing for the outdoors… if so, Roadford Lake (10 minutes’ drive) should make it onto your activities list, as there’s walking and cycling on the shores, and out on the lake you can try watersports from kayaking and canoeing to craft-making (fingers crossed it doesn’t sink). Of course, Dartmoor National Park (35 minutes) is all about being in wide open spaces. Naturally, that may mean getting a bit mucky… horse riding, cycling, climbing and canoeing are all on the go here. Those of you specifically wanting to barrel around on bikes will want to set off to Sourton (20 minutes) to get onto the Granite Way cycling trail (there’s bike hire, too, for those of you without your own). After all that activity, perhaps you’ll want to round off the day with a cream tea in the ancient stannary town of Tavistock (35 minutes). The sugar rush might revive your senses – and that’s OK too, as you’ll have all the more energy for the historic Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre (15 minutes), the large Ashbury Hotel Golf Courses (20 minutes) or Bude’s beaches (35 minutes).
