Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Very helpful lady checked us into the site. We were able to drive to a pitch, (which we could choose as it was not very busy) set up our tent and then put the car in the car park. The site is small enough to be able to see the whole camp site and toilet block was in the middle with large washing up facility and laundry. We loved the location, specifically the river walk which took us to a local pub serving great food, approximately 15 minutes away. There was also a small convenience store. Very pleasantly surprised by the beautiful walk. The camp was quiet at night as the neighbours were all respectful of each other. There is road noise as the site is accessible from A3.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike during our overnight stay

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Fantastic site grass pitches with or without electric. Staff couldn't of been more helpful and welcoming. Always attentive throughout our stay. Facilities always very clean and fresh smelling. Site location perfect for access to River Thames across road. Launch your own paddle board or canoe, or just sit and relax. Pubs/Restaurants within15 minute river walk. Site under New Management with more upgrades pending. Enjoyed every minute of our stay. Thank to all staff for making our stay so easy. We will be back soon.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Loved the area, beautiful walks and lovely and close to four lovely pubs where we could get good food.

Disliked: Showers were very weak with water just dribbling out at times. There was sick in the gent's toilets which my husband said did not get cleaned for some time.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Fantastic location with gate kept shut the whole time and locked over night which meant that I could let my 3 kids out to play while I sorted dinner etc without fear of them wandering off. The on site park was great and there was a slightly bigger park 2 mins walk away. The shower and toilet facilities were excellent and very clean. Finally, my electric hook up cable wasn't working so they lent me one for the evening and a lovely young chap even tried to repair it for me. Fantastic service going above and beyond.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: A large group of us were staying at the site as working nearby at a major sporting event for the week. The site was perfect for our needs. We were all together which was ideal. The staff were excellent and ensured our needs were met for example unlocking gates earlier than normal and ensuring sides gates for dog walking were unlocked later than normal. Regular contact was made by the staff ensuring everything was perfect for us. I will be coming back.

Local attractions

In the mood for an adrenaline rush? There are thrills galore at Thorpe Park (10 minutes’ drive), including the UK’s fastest roller coaster, and all manner of shows, rides and animal attractions over at Chessington World of Adventures (half an hour). Completing a trio of excellent days out for the kids is Legoland Windsor (half an hour), which has lots of colourful attractions for youngsters. For a more grown-up day out, you may like to try the likes of Henry VIII’s former home at Hampton Court Palace (20 minutes) or Windsor Castle (25 minutes), which has been home to 40 monarchs. Sporting sorts might also like to look out for events at Ascot Racecourse or Twickenham Stadium (both 25 minutes). You don’t have to go that far for a day out though – you could simply set off for a walk or bike ride along the Thames Path, or sign up for one of the boat tours available nearby. Paddleboards and kayaks can be hired locally as well, for more watery pursuits.
