Camping overlooking St Andrews Lakes
St andrews lakes, halling, kent.
Kayaks, paddleboards, pedalos and bell boats to rent
Kent's largest inflatable aqua park

  • Lakeside Kent motorhome pitches five minutes’ drive from Halling
  • Rochester 20 minutes’ drive, and Leeds Castle 25 minutes
  • Watersports hub in a former chalk quarry; café and takeaway on site
Looking for loads of family fun and sporty activities on hand during your break? You’ve struck gold with St Andrews Lakes, tucked away in the Kent countryside 45 minutes’ drive from central London and five minutes from the village of Halling. Here hardstanding motorhome pitches overlook a freshwater lake in a former quarry that’s been painstakingly transformed into a watersports hub (opening times vary depending upon the season and day of the week). There’s loads of choice here for activities – from open-water swimming to paddleboard and pedalo rental or dinghy sailing – and you can also sign up for a runaround on the lake's inflatable aqua park (closed between October and April). Then, when it’s time to rest up, you can retreat to the spa and wellness centre. There’s a beach too, if you’d prefer to find somewhere to snooze on the sand instead of playing around in the water all day. Please note that there's an extra charge for all activities, and advance booking is essential in peak season. Everything has been thought of to make your stay as easy as possible: there’s a watersports shop (rental is available too) on site, as well as an ‘inflation station’ to take the hard work out of pumping up your paddleboard. No need to worry about catering for your sports-mad kin either, as there’s a beach café serving drinks and homemade snacks, as well as a takeaway pizza service to keep you refuelled for your next sporting activity. And the pitches are pretty handy too: each has an electric hook-up as well as a picnic bench and chiminea for alfresco dining.

What customers say

Beautiful lake views and activities abound. Pitches are well-kept with fire pits. Staff are friendly. Facilities are clean. However, lake activities and beach access are pricey, and shower facilities are limited.

Liked Superb! Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Accommodating us when we arrived on August Bank Holiday Sunday when we’d inadvertently booked the following week! No panic no fuss just a plan.
Facilities are good, but a bit stretched when site is full, only 8 pitches, of families.
Pizzas are very good.
Lovely walk outside the park area to micro brewery, farm shop and butchers.

Disliked Limited walking in the park, it would be really nice to be able to walk round the lake.

From the manager: Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and detailed review.
We’re absolutely delighted to hear you had a superb stay with us – even with the unexpected booking mix-up! It was our pleasure to get you settled in smoothly, and we’ll be sure to pass on your special thanks to Drew and the rest of the team – they’ll be thrilled to know they made such a positive impact during your visit.
It’s great to hear you enjoyed the pizzas and explored the lovely local walk to the microbrewery, farm shop, and butchers – a perfect way to take in the area!
We also really appreciate your constructive feedback. You're absolutely right – during peak times the facilities can get a little stretched, and your suggestions about additional showers, clearer walking access, and pitch descriptions are all incredibly helpful. We're always looking at ways to improve the guest experience, and feedback like yours plays a big part in shaping future plans.

As for walking around the lake and more nature-focused routes – you're not alone in wanting more of that! We're currently exploring options to expand walking access and create more opportunities for guests to connect with nature during their stay. So do keep an eye out for updates – there may be new paths and features coming soon.

Thanks again for your kind words, your patience, and your positivity – and we’re really looking forward to welcoming you back (on the right date!) for another relaxing stay.

Highly reccomend!

Liked All the amenities on the pitch, the location, facilities and friendly staff.

Disliked Having to pay extra for everything, I think if you’re staying the night you should be able to access the lake (or at least pay a discounted amount).

From the manager: Thanks for the review, Daniel! We do offer a Staycation Pass for BYO with pitch-up, which provides a flat rate for your entire stay. You can find all the details about it in your welcome pack.

Liked Good spot, great brewery and taphouse walking distance.

Disliked The price of the beach for a family is ridiculous. All of the prices for the activities seemed steep. The aquapark was good fun though

From the manager: Thanks for the review, John! We're thrilled to hear you had a great time. Our pricing reflects the quality of the experience we offer, including certified lifeguards, insurance, and the operational costs of running a privately owned water park. We're proud to be a Gold Accredited Aqua Park, and it's great to know you enjoyed your visit!

FHU gravel RV campsite

Liked Very secure with nigh time security etc. Lovely and quiet in the evening. Lots of activities and a fantastic brewery which does pizza about 30 minutes walk. No real benefit to the more expensive pitches. There are 8 in total, 4 with slightly better lake view. Great value for the pitch with electricity and great showers etc.

Disliked The activities seemed very expensive but were fun. £30 for beach access was especially expensive but maybe that is London pricing!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the review, Jon! Our activity pricing is in line with the market, and we're sorry the beach was fully booked during your visit. As a privately owned and operated water park, we have significant overheads - including safety measures and staffing - to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all our guests. We appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you back soon!

We enjoyed our stay and we are looking forward to returning soon.

Hedge Row FHU gravel RV campsite

Liked Great pitches, generous space with picnic bench, fire-pit and individual electric and water supply. Very clean facilities. Staff all really friendly. The £20 BYO pass for paddle boards/kayaks is a bargain. The lake is beautiful, really safe for families, patrolled by safety staff and has amazing water quality. The site is really safe and secure. New Tesco within a few minutes walking distance was an unexpected bonus.

FHU gravel RV campsite

Liked Good sized pitch with services on pitch (water and hookup) at no extra price. Loved that each pitch had a picnic bench and fire pit too. Nice view, clean toilets with a well lit walk way down (steps).

The Bring your own paddleboard pass at £20 (covering both of us) made this excellent value for money.

Super helpful and friendly staff.

Disliked Woke up to cars driving on site at 6.30am. We did have the closest pitch to the gravel road in, on a busy Aug Saturday morning.

Would be nice to not overlook the buildings in front of the lake. Maybe in the future there could be a place for campers further round the lake.

From the manager: Thanks Lisa! Appreciate the feedback! We will of course pass it along to the correct teams!

Local attractions

If you can drag everybody away from the lake, there’s lots of heritage stuff to see in this corner of Kent. Historic Rochester (20 minutes’ drive) has a stately Norman castle and a Gothic-era cathedral to explore, while neighbouring Chatham (half an hour) showcases centuries of naval history at The Historic Dockyard Chatham, where you can tour the World War II destroyer HMS Cavalier and the Cold War-era submarine HMS Ocelot. The spectacular moated Leeds Castle (25 minutes) has enough craft workshops, museums, events and sculpture trails to keep the family busy all day. However, should the siren call of culture start to wane with the kids, take them to Diggerland Kent (10 minutes) for some time moving earthworks and shifting soil around on JCBs. No need to panic if it rains either, as you can divert to the bowling lanes at Hollywood Bowl Rochester (10 minutes). If you’d care to wander further afield, London sights like Greenwich Palace, The Prime Meridian and the National Maritime Museum can be reached in less than an hour’s drive.
