  • Lakeside camping 10 minutes’ drive from Deal in Kent countryside
  • Sandwich Bay 15 minutes’ drive; Howletts Wild Animal Park 25 minutes
  • Fishing lakes, dog walks and a waterside café; pubs 10 minutes’ drive
Set in the Kent countryside, Cottington Lakes offers a peaceful lakeside camping experience, just the job for anglers, nature lovers, families and dog owners – and pretty much everyone really. Whether you’re here for early-morning fishing, lazy afternoons in nature or quiet evenings under the stars, this is a great spot to unwind and fall in love with being outdoors. Spacious grass pitches are set around eight fishing lakes, and campers have access to on-site toilet and shower facilities for added comfort. When you’re ready for a bite to eat or a hot drink, Cottington Lakes Café is just a couple of minutes’ walk away, serving tasty meals, light snacks and refreshments alongside views over the water. There’s a small shop covering all the basics, and the site is also close to historic Deal and the medieval Cinque Port of Sandwich (both 10 minutes’ drive) if you need bigger shops or fancy meals out in pubs and restaurants.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked: The lakes and space around the campsite was amazing, beautiful to explore. Toilets and showers were great, clean and well kept. Staff were super friendly.

Disliked: Disliked is a little strong, but the only downfall was the layout of the electric pitches, not very clear where to go and some people were pitched in the middle of the field, also we struggled to find the washing up facility as staff didn’t talk through where to find anything.

Primitive cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked: Peaceful spacious pitches in great surroundings. Nice clean shower and toilet but only one so not sure if enough if it had been busy?

Disliked: There was two couples in a caravan with 3 dogs and they let them run loose all over the place and didn't pick up poo. There was an old gentleman who had a dog and it was loose and it pooped 3 times but he didn't pick it all up because he wasn't watching it. I didn't even know the rules for dogs must be on leads until I read the terms and conditions. Perhaps it would be worth reiterating to all dog owners on arrival they must be kept on leads whilst on the site if they wish to stay. And perhaps a few signs dotted about saying keep dogs on leads if you want to stay?
