Distant views towards shanklin downs

  • Scenic and secluded pop-up farm site with views of the Shanklin Downs
  • A five-minute drive from Shanklin and Sandown beaches and resorts
  • Rural park with bridleways and footpaths leading from the grounds
Think there’ll be plenty of scenery to feast your eyes on while idling around the Isle of Wight? You’d be absolutely correct – and some of the most top-notch views are to be seen around Willow Brook Camping. Don’t quite believe it? Simply check out the pics of this pop-up site on Ninham Farm, then potter over here in the summer and during school holidays. Its grounds have prime panoramas of the Shanklin Downs in the distance and are a five-minute drive from the sandy and scenic beaches of Shanklin and Sandown. The park’s eco-friendly owners encourage you to forget about the car and walk (40 minutes) or cycle (15 minutes) to the seaside – they follow a leave-nothing-but-footprints way of life, backed up by planet-saving touches like 100% renewable energy and excellent recycling facilities. If you’re fully up for embracing this ethos, head off along the footpaths and bridleways leading directly from the site towards some of the island’s most stunning countryside and beaches. The Victorian-era town of Shanklin is also accessible on foot (less than 30 minutes) and a couple of supermarkets are less than 15 minutes' stroll away. With a low number of people permitted on site and level grass pitches to complement the mature hedges and woodlands, this park has simple and secluded vibes. In line with this, the washrooms and shower facilities are basic but clean.

This well-run, peaceful campsite has spacious sites and is exceptionally clean. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Facilities, including restrooms and showers, are generally well-maintained. The location is ideal for island exploration, with nearby amenities and attractions. Minor points: potholed driveway and a desire for improved shower stalls.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely quiet campsite with big pitches. Well set out and didn’t feel over crowded.

Disliked Needs a few more bins around the site, especially in the kitchen area.

Toilets were fine but could of been mopped down a bit more often.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Facilities at the site were good, pitch sizes with ample space, easy walk into town along bridle paths, nice friendly site manager - as this was a last minute booking perfect for our needs.

Disliked (not the fault of the campsite) - appreciating our booking was last minute the childrens play area was quite disruptive even outside the core quiet times - parents nowhere to be seen .....
25 metre stretch from the airfield had no paths so very dangerous to walk especially during the dark evenings. Would be easy to put a gap in the hedge opposite the campsite which leads to a off road path - obviously this is a Council issue not the campsite owners.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked This quiet site has very large pitches. The staff are lovely and friendly gave us instructions on pitching which was perfect.

The toilets and showers are always clean and well stocked.

Swing and seesaw for the children and lovely walks along bridle paths.

Local to Morrisons although if you walk it’s a trek to the actual main road, but if you love walking it is perfect.

Disliked Nothing

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked A great value, family campsite with everything you could need either on site or really close.

We are experienced campers but would recommend this site to beginners due to the good facilities, helpful staff and close location to a large range of shops.

We stopped for a week and found it to be the perfect hub to explore the island from. There’s plenty to do within a 20 minute journey in any direction and the island bus stops nearby too if you didn’t want to take the car.

We have an electric car so the very close chargers at the local supermarket we’re extremely convenient and we were able to charge up during evenings easily.

Throughly recommended Willow Brook campsite to all visiting the Isle of Wight.

Local attractions

Got your walking boots and bike ready to go? Great – this site’s a fab base for investigating the many sights and attractions of the Isle of Wight by foot or on two wheels. Start off in Shanklin Chine (40 minutes’ walk), strolling around the gorge in this nature reserve, or amble down beside the coast and across the beaches and cliffs. In town there are shows to see at the theatre, cream teas to be eaten in the pubs and deck chairs to laze in on the sand. If you’ve got animal-loving nippers to appease, wander to the Amazon World Zoo (35 minutes) or dawdle to the Donkey Sanctuary (five minutes’ drive); you’ll also need to jump in the car for other Isle of Wight attractions like The Needles, a series of sharp-looking rocks poking out of the sea (40 minutes), and the flower-filled Ventnor Botanic Garden (15 minutes). For a break from nature, historical hotspots on the island include Appuldurcombe House (10 minutes), an 18th-century English baroque manor, as well as the old royal residence of Osborne, a former fave of Queen Victoria (20 minutes).
