  • Peaceful family-run park on manor estate with fishing and horse riding
  • Cuckoo Trail walking and cycling two minutes' drive away
  • Additional toilet block with disabled room and underfloor heating
What a handsome site – and what a handy location. Have yourself a holiday at Horam Manor Country Park in East Sussex for a peaceful and roomy setting as well as proximity to walking and biking paths, fishing, horse riding, tennis and golf – and quite a bit more on and off site. A family-run and friendly park on a manor estate, Horam Manor is only a couple of minutes by car from the Cuckoo Trail, the scenic 14-mile path trail along the old Cuckoo Line railway track from Heathfield to Eastbourne Park. Previous guests have esteemed this site most highly for the friendly and helpful approach of its family team, its modern and immaculately kept amenities, and its range of activities and leisure facilities for guests young and old. Fishing, woodland walks, nature trails and horse riding are available around the estate; and play areas are on site and in the adjacent village. The friendly welcome extends to family friends too, with a dog walking area close by and a dog shower and dog water bowls thoughtfully added around the grounds. As you might expect, the amenities are also excellently thought out: there are two toilet blocks (one of which has underfloor heating), spacious showers, private wash cubicles and a fully equipped disabled room. A laundry room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer, both coin-operated, is also available to guests. Fires of any kind are not permitted, but barbecues are welcome as long as they're kept off the grass (the site supplies bricks just for this purpose). The park has a small grocery shop selling basics such as milk, sweets, ice creams and drinks; it also stocks local produce such as jams. More shops and a pub are in Horam, a few minutes' stroll away. And if you're here for the seaside, beaches at Eastbourne and Lewes are within half an hour; Brighton is within 45 minutes and famed seaside towns such as Rye and Hastings are 30 to 45 minutes from the site. Local buses serve all major towns in the area.

Powered grass campsite

Liked -The campsite was lovely and clean.
-Owners were welcoming.
- Great space for the kids to play on the pitch
- Nearby to Knockhatch, Drusillas and the science centre is handy if visiting

Disliked - The riverside cafe is closed on monday and Tuesday and unfortunately we were not aware of this until our second day when we wanted to go there.
- The onsite shop doesn't stock much.
- The park pictured is not actually the park onsite
-Lack of information about local area, places to visit which are listed on pitch up (couldnt find listed nearby things on Google even)
- Firepits not allowed but BBQs are...
- The wooded area around the edge was unsafe with bent up barbed wire where people had obviously trapped it to go into the woods

From the manager: Hi Campers. Many thanks for your review. We appreciate them all, and we're please that you had a good stay. Unfortunately, the Lakeside Cafe/Bar/Bistro has never opened on a Monday or Tuesday, and as a completely separate business we have no control over their opening hours. We do have in our reception a iVisit England stand that has a large volume of leaflets re places to go throughout Sussex and the South East. Our licensing conditions prohibit open fires / wood burning on site, and we go to great lengths to make all of our potential guests aware of this. There are numerous campsites around East Sussex that allow open fires and if that is a preference, then guests should use those. With regard to the fencing around the site edges of the woodland - which is not our property - we are continually re-fencing those areas and we place signage to advise no entry. Unfortunately, unsupervised children (and as we have discovered, adults too) seem to believe that they have the right to tread down the fencing and venture into the woods. Thanks again for the review. T&D and the Team.

Powered grass campsite

Liked The size of the campsite, the surrounding trees and hedges give this campsite an appealing 'outdoorsy' pleasant atmosphere. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Facilities were good, kept clean enough for a campsite. The set up of the showers/ toilets is very convenient, with spacious shower cubicles separate from the private cubicles for those who would rather dry wash. The shower cubicles have a separate area for drying and dressing. The hot water was consistently available allowing for adjustment to one's preferred temperature for a shower. Our group enjoyed every shower. The washing up area provides enough space for dishwashing for a number of campers at a time. The pitch size was generous, enough for privacy balanced with opportunities for interaction with neighbours. In addition to local walks, if fancying driving, there is the nearby Arlington Reservoir for a scenic walk and a bird sanctuary there, with a dedicated bird hide. Additionally, only 30mins drive to the start of the Seven Sisters cliff walk from Eastbourne and Eastbourne sea side.

Liked The most welcome campsite I’ve visited, someone always around if needed. Do phone if several book separately through pitch up as they will put you together, pitch up doesn’t. Have a lovely little shop on site and park, fishing lake walking distance (2mins), park and skate park walking distance (3min), cafe/pub walking distance (2min). All round a brilliant campsite to stay! We stayed with a variety of children with different ages which they all had something to entertain themselves! Lovely size pitches enough for children to play around and gather with family. All round lovely weekend we had!

Disliked Showers are very clean! But could do with a bench inside showers to sit to help get dry and dressed. And more hanging space for towel and clothes as currently only one and small shelves.

From the manager: Hi Shondae. Thank you so much for your comprehensive review. It means a lot to the staff that you appreciate the park. And thank you for your comments re the shower seating and hangers. Hope to see you again soon!! T&D and the Team

Liked The site was well cared for, the pitches of generous size and the staff were wonderful.

Attention to detail such as posters in common areas with details of local walks, takeaways etc. was a nice touch. The facilities were well thought out and clean.

Disliked It would seem we had the one pitch that the wasps loved as we seemed to be the only ones being hunted down by them, despite all efforts to keep food/drink outside to a minimum!

The traffic on the main road alongside the campsite was very noisy at night so definitely bring a good set of earplugs

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Kerry. Many thanks for your kind review. We're glad you enjoyed the park. Unfortunately, wasps are campers main nuisance, though we do not suffer from them unduly. This year the extended warm weather we have had seems to have exacerbated it. We think you were also unfortunate in that the Eastbourne Airshow was on while you were here, so the late leavers from Eastbourne use the A267 as a main route home to avoid the other more congested main routes. Again, we apologise for that. We're pleased to note that neither of these would prevent you visiting us again. We look forward to it! T&D and the Team

Liked Pitch was great, 91, large and with ehu.

Disliked Some of the staff were awkward without reason - poor guidance and instruction over the weekend we stayed, loose accusations of pitch issues, shower block use, and gate closure - otherwise was ok.
Park onsite limited, opening hours of reception/shop limited - local park great!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Anonymous. Many thanks for taking the time to review us, we use the reviews to assess how we are performing as a site. We do take the time on each campers arrival to explain park rules and policies - including check in and check out times. Reminding campers of the site rules is a common occurrence, especially if other campers bring oversights to our attention. Our shop hours are broadly in line with arrivals / departures and general camper activity i.e. 9am to 5pm. Ultimately, we cannot be all things to all people. But we thank you for your review. T&D and the Team.
