Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely site, toilets spotless but very dated. Only stayed 2 nights as we where just having a stop over before continuing our journey. Thank god for the bakery! Their breakfast rolls were a god send and their tray bakes when down well with the kids.

Disliked: Boys were disappointed with games room. No bar food. Too noisy at night, noise regulations needs reviewing.as neighbours were outside their caravan with friends partying till 11.30 then continued inside till after 12. Don't get me wrong we all enjoy having a wee drink k on our holidays, but after our journey, we were shattered.

Liked: Plenty showers Parks and pub were great Well kept

Disliked: Lots of barking dogs and no warden visits after 11pm to check everyone was quiet. Which we requested for our second night due to kids throwing wet tissue at vans around 12 and being noisy with no adults in sight. Our second night no disturbance

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Location proximity to river and scenery.

Disliked: Toilet blocks looked like they needed a good jet wash. Everything looked grubby, and passed its best. Pitches were very close together and it felt very claustrophobic when site full.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: We thoroughly loved our stay, since it is a short walk away to Lowther Castle where my partner proposed to me! The campsite is beautiful, and very spacious. The on-site pub is great and they showed the Euro Football game too. Toilet and shower block was always clean too :)

Disliked: The distance between the shower block and the tent pitches - although they were very clean :)

Local attractions

Set an early alarm, because you’ll want plenty of time to explore the Lake District’s second-largest lake. There’s a 20-mile path around Ullswater, which is accessible from Pooley Bridge (10 minutes’ drive). So, take it all in on foot, or opt for the boat hire and cruises if you’d like to cover as much ground (or rather, water) as possible in one go. Haweswater Reservoir (half an hour) isn’t as busy as Ullswater, making it a great pick for more peaceful days out hiking. Penrith (10 minutes) will pick up the pace once again; there’s the popular Beacon Hill hike for those not done with the outdoorsy adventures and a museum and 14th-century castle for those interested in a slice of history. As Lowther Holiday Park is so close to the A66 and the M6, it’s not so tricky to take a day trip to the Yorkshire Dales National Park (45 minutes), Hexham (an hour and 15 minutes) or Barnard Castle (an hour and five minutes) either.
