  • Family-friendly park in a woodland setting and wildlife haven
  • In the southern Lake District, 20 minutes' drive from Morecambe Bay
  • Indoor pool, gym, steam room, soft play, bar and restaurant
How do you feel about staying among a whopping 28 acres of meadow and woodland cleverly converted into a garden landscaped by natural limestone, planted trees and blooming shrubs? Pretty great? Then amble over to Fell End Caravan Park in the southern Lake District’s Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape. As well as gorgeous grounds in a peaceful woodland setting, the site’s nature reserve is just the spot for setting your sights on local wildlife, whatever the season: species like owls, marsh harriers and roe deer have been seen throughout this green space. A whole other heap of countryside is nearby too, including the Forest of Bowland slightly south and the Yorkshire Dales National Park just to the east; easy access to Morecambe Bay is 20 minutes away by car as well, for meanders across mudflats. As well as checking out the local coast and countryside, factor in time for sessions using the site’s fancy facilities, which include a leisure complex with a 15-metre indoor pool and a steam room. Not one for getting your hair wet? The air-conditioned fitness centre’s cardio equipment, free weights and training machines will appeal to gym junkies. While you exercise, send the kids off to get their own heart rates up in the indoor soft play area – or just skip leg day and swing by the bar and restaurant with the family for breakfast (or lunch and dinner).

What customers say

Great facilities, friendly staff, and ideal location for Dales/Lakes. Some noted toilet/shower upkeep issues & gravel pitches. Pods & road noise were a concern for some. Wi-Fi & pool often extra.

Power optional gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked The area - plenty to do locally
Outside the Bar/Restaurant area has nice seating

Disliked The touring section is nothing more than a carpark. The ground is extremely rocky and uneven. Lorries and cars use it as a turning circle with early morning deliveries backing up into the back of the kitchen. Not safe for children or dogs.
The pitches are tight and really close together with little room outside.
I wouldn't recommend this sight as a touring site, it feels like an add on to make money. Photo advertising the touring section is actually the seasonal pitches - there are only 3 touring pitches available. Star Rating based on touring pitch alone.

Power optional gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Nothing

Disliked We were placed in a car park with our caravan. Other than some trees no greenery anywhere on caravan site.
Over crowded, children running loose all over the park, drunk drivers that made it incredibly dangerous children.
Loud environment with kids screaming till 10/11pm at night.
Staff at the bar were terrible. Manager seemed to be only one who cared.
Electricity cards have to be purchased in advance for caravan, total rip off.
Toilet/shower facilities are filthy, nappy bins overflowing and sanitary bins all full. Showered were scolding hot.
Toilets inside where the bar was were not usable they were so dirty.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked What a delightful camp sight. (A hidden gem). So glad I chose fell end. Staff super friendly and Dawn on reception extremely knowledgeable and happy to give advise on where to take my 7 your old grand daughter..
All facilties spotlessly clean and the added Bonus of having a swimming pool / gym on site.

Disliked I don't have a dislike but if I had to give one I would ask for a pod that was not so close to the road.
And to possibly have WiFi in the pods. Big ask I know

Camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food at the restaurant was very nice and very reasonably priced, lovely pizzas to keep the kids happy!. It had a very relaxed atmosphere, perfect for families with younger children or couples looking for a base to explore the south lakes or N.yorkshire or just wanting a chilled holiday. We visited cautley spout in sedbergh which was a 30 mins drive away. Lovely short walk (2.5 miles there and back ), beautiful scenery.

Disliked Nothing major but there was a nature reserve you could access directly off the site, unfortunately we weren’t able to visit as we had our dog with us. The information leaflet I was given at check said no dogs allowed.

Local attractions

Travellers to this park are already in the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so seeking strolls straight from the site is a cinch. Wander to Lakeland Wildlife Oasis to gaze upon the snow leopards and lemurs (about a 20-minute walk) or keep an eagle eye out for birds indigenous to the UK at RSPB Leighton Moss (five minutes’ drive) instead. Fine to travel further? It’s worth dropping by one of the famed bodies of water in the Lake District while you’re in the area: Windermere, perhaps the most well-known of the lot, is less than half an hour away by car. As this popular region has long been favoured by the aristocracy, classic country estates are all around as well: try Leighton Hall Estate (10 minutes) for a handsome house or get a glimpse of the National Trust’s stately Sizergh Castle and its grand gardens (15 minutes). Too rainy for days outdoors? Lancaster is 25 minutes away from the park for city shopping and sightseeing.
