  • Family-friendly park in a woodland setting and wildlife haven
  • In the southern Lake District, 20 minutes' drive from Morecambe Bay
  • Indoor pool, gym, steam room, soft play, bar and restaurant
How do you feel about staying among a whopping 28 acres of meadow and woodland cleverly converted into a garden landscaped by natural limestone, planted trees and blooming shrubs? Pretty great? Then amble over to Fell End Caravan Park in the southern Lake District’s Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape. As well as gorgeous grounds in a peaceful woodland setting, the site’s nature reserve is just the spot for setting your sights on local wildlife, whatever the season: species like owls, marsh harriers and roe deer have been seen throughout this green space. A whole other heap of countryside is nearby too, including the Forest of Bowland slightly south and the Yorkshire Dales National Park just to the east; easy access to Morecambe Bay is 20 minutes away by car as well, for meanders across mudflats. As well as checking out the local coast and countryside, factor in time for sessions using the site’s fancy facilities, which include a leisure complex with a 15-metre indoor pool and a steam room. Not one for getting your hair wet? The air-conditioned fitness centre’s cardio equipment, free weights and training machines will appeal to gym junkies. While you exercise, send the kids off to get their own heart rates up in the indoor soft play area – or just skip leg day and swing by the bar and restaurant with the family for breakfast (or lunch and dinner).

What customers say

This holiday park offers excellent facilities including a swimming pool, bar, and restaurant, with many guests praising the friendly and helpful staff and good value for money. Camping pods are generally clean, warm, and spacious. However, some guests experienced issues with WiFi connectivity, limited phone signal, and pitch locations, particularly on gravel. While many enjoyed their stay and would return, a few found the pods too small or the site not ideal for touring caravans.

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked Nice holiday park. Pool looked good but we didn't use, play area was good and the home made lasagne in the restaurant was exceptional. In terms of facilities it had everything you need and the toilet block was modern and clean. The site services team were also very prompt. Staff pretty helpful despite a misunderstanding on call out fees when their EHU stopped working (they thought we were seasonal so were liable to pay). All sorted though, no charge and we were hooked up to a new point within 15mins. The gentleman on reception was very friendly and helpful. We couldnt get a seat inside with the dog as the dog area was busy so we sat outside under a patio heater which was nice. Also just across the road is a lovely little nature reserve, saw loads of a different birds as i walked down the road past it with the dog.

Disliked The site is more set up for statics, lodges and seasonal pitches. It’s not really for touring caravans. The pitch we were supposed to park in was very small under the trees and was very uneven with large rocks sticking out of the ground, to the point I knew my caravan wouldn't go in without damage. Luckily there was an empty seasonal pitch and were were allowed to park on there for the night. Other than that, its quite a tight site, especially when people park at the edges of the road. From turning off the main road by the zoo its narrow country lane down to the park with a sharp bend, there is a sign saying narrow but we did fit down at 8ft wide. There are lot of boulders/rockeries as you go along the site roads which could be an issue if you don't have a watcher as you drive. Having a motor mover is a life saver on this site. Wifi wasn’t fantastic but there was phone reception. Bit odd having to buy credit for EHU, but not the end of the world. Once we were back on power it used about £5 in 24hrs.

Camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked Shower and toilet block good but imagine it would get over crowded with only 2 showers

Disliked Extremely overcrowded caravan site no space to move- dog friendly pod with about 2 foot of space in front of it no room for dog or kids to move or car to fit properly no bins anywhere apart from main one at far end of a large site not even a bin by dishwashing area to empty food. Area to collect water was extremely dirty and reception had no staff waited a while then another customer said I would need to go to bar area where I then had to queue at a busy bar while people where getting served with drinks and food. Got a pack saying food is served until 7:30pm kitchen was closed when we got there at 6:45pm.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked fell end is great. spacious camping pods, excellent facilities and great staff. swimming pool, bar area and wash areas are brilliant. my daughter who is 9 loves it but finds the playpark a bit limited.

Disliked more attention to detail. a picnic table at the pod would be a cheap and easy addition. we have used many places and these are a usual feature. we cook for ourselves and this would make food prep and eating much better. taps in the washing up room are all loose - 5 minutes with a spanner. nothing big but shows a little care. a waste bin the washng up room - same point and proper curtain rails in the pod rather than rails sittjng in cuphooks that fall off..

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked Flat pitch, excellent shower/toilet facilities, good location not far from M6, but nice and peaceful. The man who settled us in (who we think is the owner) was very friendly and helpful.

Disliked Tourers are a bit of an add on, main business is mobile homes, seasonal campers and camping pods, so tourer sites are not great. Bar closed when we were there, so no food on site. It is certainly not picturesque, no views at all.

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked Toilets were clean and nice swimming pool. Beautiful countryside and nature reserve.

Disliked Not set for touring, the plot we were allocated was very poor at the end of a junction. Toilets although clean were poor again minimum facilities and showers worked intermittently.

Electric optional gravel touring pitch

Liked Perfect little set up for me and my little family. We came with our in laws in their caravan, our friend and her partner Andy their 10 month old, me my husband and our children 2 under 2. Amazing facilities, pool was lovely and warm, steam room was an added bonus that I spent know they had! Arcade’s were a bonus and were pence! Considering we’ve just been to centre parcs and payed 12 pins for 10 tokens in a teddy machine, it was amazing to only spend 30p for the kids in a teddy machine. Massive difference! Pool table was great! Nice and clean, pitches were a little tight to get into (2 out of 4) not an issue as my husband is a wagon driver but maybe for some others. But help was on hand by the site, should we have needed it. Site owner was a really nice person! Welcomed us back with open arms. Looking forward to booking back up to with a 10 percent discount for rebooking with was also a nice surprise!

Disliked Little bit disappointed we couldn’t have an awning up as we would have liked somewhere to sit with our friends that came with us. Could porch awnings possibly be accepted?

Local attractions

Travellers to this park are already in the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so seeking strolls straight from the site is a cinch. Wander to Lakeland Wildlife Oasis to gaze upon the snow leopards and lemurs (about a 20-minute walk) or keep an eagle eye out for birds indigenous to the UK at RSPB Leighton Moss (five minutes’ drive) instead. Fine to travel further? It’s worth dropping by one of the famed bodies of water in the Lake District while you’re in the area: Windermere, perhaps the most well-known of the lot, is less than half an hour away by car. As this popular region has long been favoured by the aristocracy, classic country estates are all around as well: try Leighton Hall Estate (10 minutes) for a handsome house or get a glimpse of the National Trust’s stately Sizergh Castle and its grand gardens (15 minutes). Too rainy for days outdoors? Lancaster is 25 minutes away from the park for city shopping and sightseeing.
