  • Harewood House 15 minutes' drive; close to Yorkshire Dales walks
  • Wood-fired sauna and cold plunge pool on site, plus café and firepit
How far out of the city do you have to go to find a proper rural location? In the case of Fairmead Farm, not far at all – this handy West Yorkshire location is just outside the village of Pool in Wharfedale, an easy 20-minute drive from Leeds. Everything at this working farm site is set up to create hassle-free breaks for families, couples and small groups of friends (dogs included). Even the access to the site is easy, as it’s just a little way off the A658. You’d hardly believe the city is so close when you take in the scenery here, as the farm has fabulous sweeping views across the surrounding countryside towards the nearby Yorkshire Dales National Park (a great destination for a hike and other outdoor activities, you’ll no doubt already have clocked). Plenty of useful facilities have been provided here, including clean showers and toilets, along with a cosy barn where you can relax if the weather takes a turn. Outside, you can buy drinks (and sometimes wood-fired pizzas in high season) from the cute horsebox café, and spend your evenings gathering by the firepit for a chat by the flames and a bit of stargazing. There is another option for keeping warm on site: the Nordic-style wood-fired sauna makes a lovely place to relax, especially after a long walk. If you’re feeling brave, combine it with a dip in one of the cold plunge pools. Not your style? Head into the village, half a mile away, for a warming meal and a pint in the local pub.

Primitive grass and gravel campervan campsite

Liked We found this site last minute on pitch up and were glad to see there was availability. The site is amazing!! The bar area and barn is amazing for games and drinks. The showers are fab. Tom was very hospitable and lovely! We spent the morning in the sauna and plunge pool which was a delightful way to end our time camping. The views are stunning and the pitch was quiet. We had gorgeous views overlooking farmland and we really enjoyed our time! Will definitely be back! Gutted we only stayed for one night.

Primitive grass and gravel campervan campsite

Liked Wonderful views from the site and a friendly welcome. The barn offered a dry space for families and access to water and electric within easy reach of pitches. We appreciated the spacious pitches offered for campers and found facilities to be clean with lots of hot waters for showers.

Disliked Signage from the road needs improvement and ideally safer access both in and out of the site for cars and walkers. Road surface needs looking at too for the entrance which might happen once the house renovations completed.

Primitive grass and gravel campervan campsite

Liked Really lovely site that feels rural but only being 15 minutes away from Leeds.
Great facilities and although we only stayed one night, we could easily have stayed longer.
Amazing views and tons of space.
Sauna and cold baths look great and if we had more time would have definitely had a go, these must be booked separately.

Primitive grass and gravel campervan campsite

Liked We've just come back from a wonderful long weekend at Fairmead Farm in our Tentbox. The facilities were the best we have come across so far - clean, hot, spacious showers and clean toilets. The farm itself was a lovely big field with lovely bell tents in the middle. There was ample space all around them to park up wherever you wish, with beautiful views on all sides. The host was amazing - helpful, kind and clearly very dedicated to making sure everyone was happy - and he makes the most delicious pizza's in his pizza oven! (You won't regret ordering one) There was even a luxury sauna, which if we hadn't forgotten our swimwear we would have definitely used! Thank you so much for a lovely weekend Tom - we'll absolutely be back.

Liked We had a great stay at Fairmead Farm. Tom could not have been any more accommodating and option of getting a wood fired pizza and using the sauna were great! It was a nice quiet campsite with gorgeous views and we will definitely be back.
