  • Dog-friendly park five miles from Scarborough and 2.5 from Filey
  • Award-winning amenities block, family bathroom and launderette
  • Indoor heated pool, lounge bar, family bar, play area and supermarket
Feel free as a bird at award-winning Crows Nest Caravan Park between Scarborough and Filey – this well-maintained place is roomy, green and has sea views overlooking gorgeous Gristhorpe Bay and Scarborough Castle. Crows Nest is five miles from Scarborough and two and a half miles from Filey, but if you’re taking a break from the seaside/ exploring the North Yorkshire coast there’s loads to do on site too: a lounge bar with entertainment in peak season to suit all ages and tastes, a family bar with pool tables, a games room, a play area for little fledglings and a heated indoor pool with poolside assistants during high season. The award-winning amenities block a short walk from the tent field has free hot showers, wash basins, hairdryers and socket/shaver points, and there are also family bathrooms and a disabled-access shower room. Elsewhere on site there’s a washing-up area, launderette, chemical disposal point and well-stocked supermarket. And, as you can’t come to the coast and not have fish and chips, there’s also a chippy takeaway open in high season (but they do have more fish and chips in Scarborough too). Bringing the family friend? Crows Nest Caravan Park is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed in the conservatory area of the lounge bar; there's also a dog park on site.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked The location, the shop is always well stocked and has a good variety of stock.
The fish and chips shop is great, really good quality

Disliked The shower blocks/toilets need attention. They are cleaned once a day but when it's busy they need to be cleaned more often. Often you had to check multiple cubicles before you found one clean enough to use.
Also the the pitches weren't checked often people left a lot of rubbish when they left. And though this isn't the sites fault . Someone needed to make sure it was clean and littler free. For our entire stay, there was a large tenet that was still pegged down but was flat to the floor with a porta loo. Under it, clearly abandoned.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked The site is really good for kids. Brilliant park, swimming pool and entertainment. On site shop it's fantastic and has just about everything you need. The fish and chip shop is also a great little addition. We opted to stay on the overflow field as it was quiet windy on the top field. I am glad we did as it was a lot more peaceful than the top field. And not too far from amenities.

Disliked Just a few areas are in need of repair. Like the toilet block near the shop. And the bins were over flowing causing lots of littering around the main areas of the site. Maybe more frequent bin changes in peak season would help.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)

Liked Live entertainment in the pub for the whole family including live bands. The shop and fish and chip shop was a bonus, prices were reasonable.

Disliked The shower blocks could be a bit cleaner, sanitary bins were always full and things falling out. We stayed in the overflow, other cars entering were racing down the field with kids playing out. Our neighbours played loud music until late at night

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)

Liked Huge camping field, great playpark, sea views. Pool is fun for little kids. Fish and Chip shop on site is really good.

Disliked Toilet and shower block are in need of refurb.

No facilities or lighting in the lower field - a car crashed into one of the raised drains in the darkness.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We’re pleased you enjoyed the large camping field, play park, sea views, pool and fish and chips. The overflow field does not have lighting, however the car that crashed did. We’ll pass on your comments regarding the toilet and shower block to our team.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)

Liked Convenient location, bus stops outside of campsite. On site facilities such as bar, shop, fish and chips, entertainments and ablutions. There’s probably much more to list but those were the ones we used. Campsite was nice and quiet, plenty of space! Staff was very friendly at reception and behind the bar. Check in and out times are great!

Disliked Toilet/shower block could do with a refresh. Rusty drain covers, tiles falling off and hand dryers aren’t very good.

Lower area FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked We stayed in the lower pitches right next to the shower block was a perfect spot for us with having 3 children aged 8, 14 and 15. Close to all the amenities. Loved the site, fish and chips was amazing, loved having an indoor swimming pool although the chlorine was really strong so recommend goggles. Had a lovely walk along the cliff path to Cayton bay. The onsite pub was good altho we sat in the quiet side playing card games. Lovely little park on site too. There's a bus stop right outside the site which we used to get into scarborough several times buses are regular and super cheap.
The showers were good there's a separate sink area with plugs so I straightened my hair there using it with the mirrors.
Onsite shop had everything you needed and good reasonable prices.
We ordered a curry from a local takeaway which delivered to us which was great.
We had an excellent time here and would definitely stay here again

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Fabulous pitches and facilities, views are absolutely amazing. Very friendly and helpful staff, we arrived earlier than check in time and it was no problem at all.
Bus stop just outside going to Scarborough and Bridlington £3 one way, every 30 minutes.
Toilet and showers very clean and tidy.

Local attractions

Leave the car behind: buses running between Scarborough and Bridlington pick up from the end of the Crows Nest Caravan Park drive and discount day tickets are available to keep more money for seaside rock. The kids will probably clamour first for Scarborough: there are the North Bay and South Bay beaches to bounce around as well as the traditional seaside fairground and donkey rides. But Scarborough’s also a hotspot for culture vultures, with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Art Gallery and Rotunda Museum alongside regular festivals and events throughout the year. Fab Filey is even closer: this Edwardian town has a five-mile stretch of sand and is backed by the peninsula and cliffs of Filey Brigg – this is the place to birdwatch and wildlife spot, with rockpools along the beach and many species of birds and beasts to see all year round. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts here for hiking your way around Yorkshire’s history and heritage: Scarborough Castle, Whitby Abbey and Dracula tales, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey are all along the route. Away from the seaside and vampires, puff between Whitby and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, veer between villages in the North York Moors National Park or get citified around York and Hull, all within easy driving distance of Crows Nest.
