Family bar with guitar-shaped bar and music memorabilia

  • Dog-friendly park five miles from Scarborough and 2.5 from Filey
  • Award-winning amenities block, family bathroom and launderette
  • Indoor heated pool, lounge bar, family bar, play area and supermarket
Feel free as a bird at award-winning Crows Nest Caravan Park between Scarborough and Filey – this well-maintained place is roomy, green and has sea views overlooking gorgeous Gristhorpe Bay and Scarborough Castle. Crows Nest is five miles from Scarborough and two and a half miles from Filey, but if you’re taking a break from the seaside/ exploring the North Yorkshire coast there’s loads to do on site too: a lounge bar with entertainment in peak season to suit all ages and tastes, a family bar with pool tables, a games room, a play area for little fledglings and a heated indoor pool with poolside assistants during high season. The award-winning amenities block a short walk from the tent field has free hot showers, wash basins, hairdryers and socket/shaver points, and there are also family bathrooms and a disabled-access shower room. Elsewhere on site there’s a washing-up area, launderette, chemical disposal point and well-stocked supermarket. And, as you can’t come to the coast and not have fish and chips, there’s also a chippy takeaway open in high season (but they do have more fish and chips in Scarborough too). Bringing the family friend? Crows Nest Caravan Park is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed in the conservatory area of the lounge bar; there's also a dog park on site.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)

Liked Campsite was clean and very well maintained. Check in very efficient.
The space on the pitches are fab , you can spread out as much as you like. Depending on where you choose is how level your pitch is- we got given an area and had 2 big fields to choose from where to pitch.
The shop is well stocked and very affordable.
The on site chip shop was amazing, food was delicious.
Swimming pool was good too, refreshing in the current heat.
There was an act on through the day at the bar for entertainment.
Showers are free ( 3 in each male and female toilets (lower block)), with sockets for hairdryers etc, also a good amount of sinks.
Camp security also good , checking no one is being overly noisy after 11pm.
At the top of the site is access to a walk and the beach (small cove) , plenty of crabs to be found from teenie tiny to approx medium hand sized, not suitable for paddling in the sea due to rocks and seaweed - you would have to climb over them for a good 5 - 10 mins before you got to the water. Possibly a better place further round but we didn’t venture that far.
Views of fields or the sea depending on where your pitched.

Disliked Hand dryer was very poor in the lower block, it was quicker to blow on your own hands and the cleanliness of toilet floor wasn’t always great, nothing major , just wet floor and toilet paper.

Liked 5 Stars – A Perfect Getaway!

We recently stayed at the campsite in the holiday park and had an absolutely wonderful experience! The site was clean, spacious, and beautifully maintained.
The park itself is fantastic – modern shower and toilet facilities, always spotless, and never too crowded. We especially appreciated the family-friendly atmosphere. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. There was so much to do onsite and nearby – from the kids' playground, scenic seaside views to the indoor pool and evening entertainment. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into making the site enjoyable for all ages.

We left feeling relaxed and recharged. Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone looking to enjoy the sea view. We’ll definitely be back!

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)

Liked The lovely atmosphere! It is nice but not as good in overfill part

Disliked I booked more so to be near toilets and washing area but was very very far in overspill area which is the same price £60 for two nights. The view on the original pitch is amazing but unfortunately that was quite a big walk with a toddler. I didn’t know we were in the overspill till booked.

Will stay here again

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked - quick & easy arrival
- great location, 6mile walk to Scarborough on cliff top, 1mile walk to Clayton Bay quieter beach with paddle-board and surfboard hire
- lots of facilities for families (swimming pool, fish & chips, pub)
- well stocked shop
- plenty of toilet/shower/sink cubicles, never had to wait

Disliked - toilet & shower cleanliness was hit & miss
- very busy site, arrived at 7pm Friday and not much space left (definitely not on cliff top that the pictures drew us to book for!)
- seemed to not be a curfew for noise … large groups noisy until after midnight

We booked overflow thinking it must be busy. I'll happily book the…

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)

Liked We booked overflow thinking it must be busy. I'll happily book the overflow again due to the space offered.
Reception were clear and helpful.
Yes the toilets are a walk, but manageable!
Lots of space for my little one to play football. Park was also good.
Cant comment on chip shop or pool, maybe next time.

Disliked You can't control where people camp unfortunately. In the field we were in, everyone was pitchef along on the edge with so much space available in between and at the end of the field. We returned one day to see that someone had pitched up right outside our tent...not one other tent was pitched this way and so felt quite intrusive.
Whilst radios can be played up until 11, they played their music with such heavy bass too loud for how close they were before this, causing my little one some difficulty getting to sleep.
Once he was asleep we were sat outside, and the lady walked around our car and through the bushes behind our tent to use for a wee. I asked her not to do that again.
I can't see why they pitched so close given they wanted to act like this, and given what they were doing in their car. Not so family friendly.

It's a really, really good place to camp

Upper area FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked Pitch was flat and a decent size

Disliked Go here if you don’t mind, chavs screaming kids and abuse. We were told that there was evening entertainment and when we went down, there was nothing on. Got screamed at however by a very drunk parent with her toddler trailing behind. We were on a hardstanding pitch but the field looked absolutely cramped with tents practically on top of each other. Right next to the toilet so everybody saw fit to cut right across our pitch to go to the toilet. Definitely won’t be returning.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you found the pitch to be flat and a good size.

We’re sorry to hear that aspects of your stay didn’t meet your expectations. For clarity, all guests are provided with our entertainment schedule and site information at check-in, including the opening times of our facilities. The entertainment did take place on Saturday afternoon as advertised, and was enjoyed by many of our guests. You can see a live video on our facebook page from Saturday afternoon.

As a family-friendly park, we do our best to provide a welcoming environment for everyone. We understand that guest behaviour can sometimes impact others’ experiences, and we do encourage visitors to speak with our team at the time so we can address any concerns immediately.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Local attractions

Leave the car behind: buses running between Scarborough and Bridlington pick up from the end of the Crows Nest Caravan Park drive and discount day tickets are available to keep more money for seaside rock. The kids will probably clamour first for Scarborough: there are the North Bay and South Bay beaches to bounce around as well as the traditional seaside fairground and donkey rides. But Scarborough’s also a hotspot for culture vultures, with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Art Gallery and Rotunda Museum alongside regular festivals and events throughout the year. Fab Filey is even closer: this Edwardian town has a five-mile stretch of sand and is backed by the peninsula and cliffs of Filey Brigg – this is the place to birdwatch and wildlife spot, with rockpools along the beach and many species of birds and beasts to see all year round. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts here for hiking your way around Yorkshire’s history and heritage: Scarborough Castle, Whitby Abbey and Dracula tales, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey are all along the route. Away from the seaside and vampires, puff between Whitby and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, veer between villages in the North York Moors National Park or get citified around York and Hull, all within easy driving distance of Crows Nest.
