Camping field at crows nest with sea views.
Heated indoor pool with waterslides
Family bar with guitar-shaped bar and music memorabilia

  • Dog-friendly park five miles from Scarborough and 2.5 from Filey
  • Award-winning amenities block, family bathroom and launderette
  • Indoor heated pool, lounge bar, family bar, play area and supermarket
Feel free as a bird at award-winning Crows Nest Caravan Park between Scarborough and Filey – this well-maintained place is roomy, green and has sea views overlooking gorgeous Gristhorpe Bay and Scarborough Castle. Crows Nest is five miles from Scarborough and two and a half miles from Filey, but if you’re taking a break from the seaside/ exploring the North Yorkshire coast there’s loads to do on site too: a lounge bar with entertainment in peak season to suit all ages and tastes, a family bar with pool tables, a games room, a play area for little fledglings and a heated indoor pool with poolside assistants during high season. The award-winning amenities block a short walk from the tent field has free hot showers, wash basins, hairdryers and socket/shaver points, and there are also family bathrooms and a disabled-access shower room. Elsewhere on site there’s a washing-up area, launderette, chemical disposal point and well-stocked supermarket. And, as you can’t come to the coast and not have fish and chips, there’s also a chippy takeaway open in high season (but they do have more fish and chips in Scarborough too). Bringing the family friend? Crows Nest Caravan Park is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed in the conservatory area of the lounge bar; there's also a dog park on site.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked The open, non-electric camping field was perfect. We were camping with two 5-man tents with plenty of space on a level pitch with beautiful views of the sea, the sunsets and across the bay to Scarborough.
4 kids aged 18m-10yrs who all loved the play area, the evening entertainment and especially the swimming pool.
A well stocked shop gave the kids chance to spend their holiday money, as well as selling the things we needed to restock our camping kitchen.
We never got the chance to experience the on-site fish and chip shop, but the smell walking past was wonderful.
Fantastic pot wash facilities in a covered area.

Disliked Unfortunately the toilet facilities, were not very clean. Through no fault, I'm sure, of the site staff. I saw teams working both morning and afternoon.
It's a shame that people feel the need to leave used toilet paper all over the floors in most cubicles, almost immediately after the cleaning teams had been in.
Taking small kids in was not a pleasant experience.

From the manager: Thank you for your detailed review. We’re delighted you enjoyed the space, sea views, facilities and entertainment, and that the children had such a great time. Our team do clean the toilet blocks multiple times each day, though unfortunately they are used again straight after, which we know is frustrating - for all of us. We appreciate your understanding and are pleased you still had an enjoyable stay overall.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked The views, the beautiful coastal path, the fair prices at the shop and bar, the facilities are plentiful, no queue for toilets or showers.

Disliked The toilets, showers and pool area are not kept clean, campers playing music at night and no staff presence, though it’s great choosing your own pitch it also means people are free to pitch up close.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We’re pleased you enjoyed the views, coastal path, facilities and shop and bar prices. We’re sorry to hear about the issues you mentioned regarding cleanliness and noise. Lower area FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked We really enjoyed our stay there and it was our first time on the site too.
The site is lovely and spacious and has some fantastic views which we walked across a few times.
The facilities were also very clean and no litter around as there was plenty of rubbish bins.
There was no need to leave the site as there was plenty to do.
The staff were also very friendly and welcoming.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)

Liked Wonderful nature, beautiful area

Disliked We stopped at the lower field, as other places were busy. We didn't like the fact that there was no toilet and we had to walk far.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We’re pleased you enjoyed the natural surroundings and beautiful area. Facilities are located closer to the main 'full time' pitches, and we’ll keep your comments about the overflow field in mind.

Site Housekeeping let's an otherwise great campsite down.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked The location, the shop is always well stocked and has a good variety of stock.
The fish and chips shop is great, really good quality

Disliked The shower blocks/toilets need attention. They are cleaned once a day but when it's busy they need to be cleaned more often. Often you had to check multiple cubicles before you found one clean enough to use.
Also the the pitches weren't checked often people left a lot of rubbish when they left. And though this isn't the sites fault . Someone needed to make sure it was clean and littler free. For our entire stay, there was a large tenet that was still pegged down but was flat to the floor with a porta loo. Under it, clearly abandoned.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We’re pleased you enjoyed the location, shop and fish and chips. The shower blocks are cleaned multiple times per day, though they do obviously get heavily used again between cleans, especially during busy periods. Abandoned tents are left for a few days in case the owner returns, as it is not our property to simply remove. Your comments about litter and facilities will be shared with the team. We appreciate your feedback and are glad you still enjoyed your stay overall.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked The site is really good for kids. Brilliant park, swimming pool and entertainment. On site shop it's fantastic and has just about everything you need. The fish and chip shop is also a great little addition. We opted to stay on the overflow field as it was quiet windy on the top field. I am glad we did as it was a lot more peaceful than the top field. And not too far from amenities.

Disliked Just a few areas are in need of repair. Like the toilet block near the shop. And the bins were over flowing causing lots of littering around the main areas of the site. Maybe more frequent bin changes in peak season would help.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We’re pleased you enjoyed the facilities, shop, fish and chips and found the overflow field peaceful. We do have many bins across the site which are emptied regularly, but when rubbish is left next to them (not inside them) the birds can unfortunately scatter it. We’ll keep your comments about maintenance in mind and hope to welcome you back again.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)

Liked Live entertainment in the pub for the whole family including live bands. The shop and fish and chip shop was a bonus, prices were reasonable.

Disliked The shower blocks could be a bit cleaner, sanitary bins were always full and things falling out. We stayed in the overflow, other cars entering were racing down the field with kids playing out. Our neighbours played loud music until late at night

Local attractions

Leave the car behind: buses running between Scarborough and Bridlington pick up from the end of the Crows Nest Caravan Park drive and discount day tickets are available to keep more money for seaside rock. The kids will probably clamour first for Scarborough: there are the North Bay and South Bay beaches to bounce around as well as the traditional seaside fairground and donkey rides. But Scarborough’s also a hotspot for culture vultures, with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Art Gallery and Rotunda Museum alongside regular festivals and events throughout the year. Fab Filey is even closer: this Edwardian town has a five-mile stretch of sand and is backed by the peninsula and cliffs of Filey Brigg – this is the place to birdwatch and wildlife spot, with rockpools along the beach and many species of birds and beasts to see all year round. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts here for hiking your way around Yorkshire’s history and heritage: Scarborough Castle, Whitby Abbey and Dracula tales, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey are all along the route. Away from the seaside and vampires, puff between Whitby and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, veer between villages in the North York Moors National Park or get citified around York and Hull, all within easy driving distance of Crows Nest.
