  • Dog-friendly park five miles from Scarborough and 2.5 from Filey
  • Award-winning amenities block, family bathroom and launderette
  • Indoor heated pool, lounge bar, family bar, play area and supermarket
Feel free as a bird at award-winning Crows Nest Caravan Park between Scarborough and Filey – this well-maintained place is roomy, green and has sea views overlooking gorgeous Gristhorpe Bay and Scarborough Castle. Crows Nest is five miles from Scarborough and two and a half miles from Filey, but if you’re taking a break from the seaside/ exploring the North Yorkshire coast there’s loads to do on site too: a lounge bar with entertainment in peak season to suit all ages and tastes, a family bar with pool tables, a games room, a play area for little fledglings and a heated indoor pool with poolside assistants during high season. The award-winning amenities block a short walk from the tent field has free hot showers, wash basins, hairdryers and socket/shaver points, and there are also family bathrooms and a disabled-access shower room. Elsewhere on site there’s a washing-up area, launderette, chemical disposal point and well-stocked supermarket. And, as you can’t come to the coast and not have fish and chips, there’s also a chippy takeaway open in high season (but they do have more fish and chips in Scarborough too). Bringing the family friend? Crows Nest Caravan Park is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed in the conservatory area of the lounge bar; there's also a dog park on site.

What customers say

This campsite offers stunning sea views and is ideally located for exploring nearby coastal towns. Guests frequently praise the clean facilities, friendly staff, and a good range of amenities including a shop, pub, and fish and chip shop. The children's play area and swimming pool are popular. Some visitors noted occasional overcrowding and noise, particularly during peak times, and the windy cliff-top location can be a factor for tent campers.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked The location is great with the Cleveland Way being easily accessed from the site to walk to Fily, Cayton Bay or Scarborough if you're really feeling fit.

The toilet blocks very good, but needs to be cleaned a bit more regularly I'd say at busy times, which a Bank Holiday is.

we never used facilities like the clubhouse, fish and chips as we had a small BBQ and it was such a hot weekend it was just nice to sit in front of the tent and cook but its there if you want it and prices seemed very reasonable. Scarborough is 6 miles away and Filey about 4 if you want to go out.

Managed to get a full 5G signal on EE and I think Vodafone works well too. Never had EHU but there are sockets in the toilets and in the Laundry room to charge your phone.

Disliked Swarms of insects were insane - not sure if it was just a one off but all along the coastal path and on site there were so many of them. Not the campsites fault obviously but it is a bit of a minor inconvenience. They are not midges, they are very tiny pollen beatles.

Lower area fully-serviced gravel touring pitch (super)

Liked The site was beautifully located with good size pitches, the supermarket was well stocked and the bar and food options were also excellent

Disliked The toilet facilities near our pitch were a little dirty and in need of an upgrade.
However the site was very busy and some people don't clean up after themselves

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Good facilities.
Waste removed often.
Good food at the takeaway.
Great location (bus to Scarborough only 25 mins and stop was directly outside site)
Toilets/showers clean at first but obviously are not cleaned during the weekend.

Disliked No staff presence at site beyond the reception area. No one checking to see if people were adhering to the rules regarding music/radios off at 11pm.
No benches around children's play area.
The indoor pool is small and was absolutely freezing and was full of grown men splashing around like mad so me and my 2 small children only stayed for 10 minutes before having to leave.
Wifi only available in the lounge area.

Local attractions

Leave the car behind: buses running between Scarborough and Bridlington pick up from the end of the Crows Nest Caravan Park drive and discount day tickets are available to keep more money for seaside rock. The kids will probably clamour first for Scarborough: there are the North Bay and South Bay beaches to bounce around as well as the traditional seaside fairground and donkey rides. But Scarborough’s also a hotspot for culture vultures, with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Art Gallery and Rotunda Museum alongside regular festivals and events throughout the year. Fab Filey is even closer: this Edwardian town has a five-mile stretch of sand and is backed by the peninsula and cliffs of Filey Brigg – this is the place to birdwatch and wildlife spot, with rockpools along the beach and many species of birds and beasts to see all year round. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts here for hiking your way around Yorkshire’s history and heritage: Scarborough Castle, Whitby Abbey and Dracula tales, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey are all along the route. Away from the seaside and vampires, puff between Whitby and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, veer between villages in the North York Moors National Park or get citified around York and Hull, all within easy driving distance of Crows Nest.
